Aqueduct Racetrack Picks – Friday, January 29, 2021
Aqueduct Racetrack has plenty of maiden, starter, allowance, and claiming races filling their eight-race schedule for our Friday wagering entertainment.
Remember that while I review the three richest races at Aqueduct here, you can find their entire eight-race card — including horses, jockeys, trainers, M/L odds, and betting options — at one of our recommended horse racing wagering sites.
Now, read on for my Aqueduct Racetrack picks and betting tips for three of Friday’s top thoroughbred races.
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 1
This is a maiden special weight for three-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $80,000.
I like the third-favored (7/2) entry in this five-horse race — Chargina, with Trevor McCarthy in the irons. This filly moneyed one of her two career starts with a second-place finish at Laurel Park earlier this month. Of the three fillies in this race with starting records, Chargina is the only one to have seen a payday.
The 15/1 filly in this race has four unproductive starts to her name, and she doesn’t look likely to finish in the money this time, either, so declining to make a show bet on her is simply showing fiduciary responsibility.
- Win: Chargina 7/2
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 4
This is an allowance race for fillies and mares four years old and upward, running a distance of one mile for a purse of $72,000.
I’ve tagged this race’s morning-line favorite, Ellarella, three times in the past five months to win — and all three times she’s finished third. Well, let it never be said that I don’t learn my lesson. Eventually.
That said, I’m backing the 8/1 sleeper here — My My Michelle, ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. This four-year-old filly moneyed three of her four career starts, winning one.
- Win: My My Michelle 8/1
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 7
This is an allowance optional claiming race for New York-foaled three-year-old fillies running a distance of seven furlongs for a purse of $72,000.
I agree with the morning line in this race, so my win ticket is for the 2/1 favorite — Make Mischief, with Manny Franco aboard. This filly finished in the money four of her five career starts, winning one. Most notably, she placed at Saratoga in both the Schuylerville Stakes (Grade III) last July and the Adirondack Stakes (Grade II) last August.
Alas, there are no odds long enough in this race to warrant the risk of a show bet.
- Win: Make Mischief 2/1
My Other Predictions for Friday
Aqueduct Racetrack had some hefty surprises for us, but I found even more profitable opportunities at the other two tracks I reviewed for Friday:
