Aqueduct Racetrack Picks – Thursday, February 4, 2021
Aqueduct Racetrack delivers plenty of profitable opportunities to match with our short-term investment strategies for Thursday.
Remember that while I review the three richest races here, you can find Aqueduct’s full eight-race card — including horses, jockeys, trainers, morning line odds, and wagering options — at one of our recommended online racebooks.
Read on for my Aqueduct Racetrack picks and betting tips for the three top thoroughbred races on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 5
This is an allowance optional claiming race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $85,000.
While I think this race will be much closer than the morning line odds suggest, I’m sticking with the 8/5 favorite — Dreams Untold, with Kendrick Carmouche in the irons. This four-year-old gelding finished in the money seven of his ten career starts, winning five.
The longest morning line odds in this five-horse match are 6/1, and while I believe that horse will finish in the money, the final payout on a show ticket wouldn’t be worth the risk.
- Win: Dreams Untold 8/5
Picks for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 7
This is an allowance race for four-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $82,000.
I’m backing the second-favored (5/2) entry here — Jemography, with Dylan Davis aboard. This five-year-old gelding moneyed 17 of his 23 career starts, winning seven. It’ll be tough to beat Manny Franco aboard the morning line favorite (Instinctive Rhythm), but Jemography has the record to prove he can do it.
The longest odds in this race are 10/1, but I have confidence that the owner of those odds — Morning Breez, ridden by Luis Cardenas — can make a money finish happen. This six-year-old gelding had money finishes in 25 of his 38 career starts, winning three. And don’t forget, Cardenas contributes a five-pound apprentice allowance to the ride.
- Win: Jemography 5/2
- Show: Morning Breez 10/1
Picks for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 8
This is a maiden special weight race for New York-foaled three-year-olds running a distance of one mile for a purse of $70,000.
I like the second-favored (7/2) horse — Brew Pub, with Dylan Davis aboard. This colt moneyed five of his seven career starts.
You might want to consider a safety wager on the 6/1 sleeper, Street Culture, ridden by top jockey Trevor McCarthy. This gelding has no starting record but has performed quite well in recent workouts.
I just don’t see any of the longer odds entries in this nine-horse race getting anywhere near a money finish.
- Win: Brew Pub 7/2
- Sleeper: Street Culture 6/1
