Aqueduct Racetrack Picks – Friday, December 4, 2020

| December 3, 2020 12:25 pm PDT

Aqueduct Racetrack continues to bring us solid races with lucrative purses that attract the best talent the thoroughbred horse racing industry has to offer.

The three races I chose to review for Friday at Aqueduct are all turf runs, with plenty of also-eligibles standing by should the race switch to the main dirt track. And that could happen–although the week in Queens has been dry, the forecast for Friday is scattered showers, temps in the low 50s, and winds around ten mph.

Remember that while I review Friday’s richest races at Aqueduct, you can always find their entire slate — including entries, jockeys, M/L odds, and wagering options — at one of our recommended online racebooks.

Read on for my Aqueduct Racetrack picks and betting tips in Friday’s three top races.

Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 2

This is a maiden special weight race for two-year-old fillies running a distance of six furlongs on turf for a purse of $80,000.

I’m in agreement with the morning line, so my win ticket reads for the 3/1 favorite — O’Gotten Girl, with John R. Velazquez in the irons. This filly finished in the money two of her three career starts and has shown comparatively good performance in her recent workouts.

The longest odds in this race are 15/1, and I don’t see any of those entries reaching the finish line in time for payday.

  • Win: O’Gotten Girl 3/1

Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 3

This is an allowance race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/16 miles on turf for a purse of $82,000.

I’m going with the second-favored (2/1) entry in this race — Winters Back, with Kendrick Carmouche aboard. This three-year-old colt moneyed two of his three career starts, winning one.

I don’t see any long-odds entries worth risking a show ticket.

  • Win: Winters Back 2/1

Picks for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 6

This is an allowance optional claiming race for two-year-olds running a distance of six furlongs on turf for a purse of $82,000.

I’m sticking with the 3/1 morning line favorite for this run — Phantom Smoke, ridden by Junior Alvarado. This colt won his single career start.

At 20/1, Spectatorless, with Charlie Marquez in the irons, is my value show ticket choice here. This gelding broke his maiden his first start, then finished an embarrassing seventh in the Nashua Stakes (Grade III) at Aqueduct last month for his second career start. That seems like overambition on the part of his connections, and I believe he’ll finish in the money in this race — despite his jockey’s relative inexperience.

  • Win: Phantom Smoke 3/1
  • Show: Spectatorless 20/1

My Other Predictions for Friday

Aqueduct Racetrack was stingy with both underdogs and long-odds moneymakers, but I found more of them at the other two tracks I reviewed for Friday:
