Aqueduct Racetrack Picks – Thursday, December 3, 2020

Aqueduct Racetrack came through for us with their Thursday race line-up, offering a goodly number of underdog win prospects as well as some solid longshot show bets.

In the meantime, read on for my Aqueduct Racetrack picks and tips for Thursday’s three top races.

This is an allowance optional claiming race for New York-foaled fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $74,000.

I’m backing the 9/5 morning line favorite in this race — Singular Sensation, with Jose Lezcano in the irons. This four-year-old filly finished in the money four of her eight career starts, winning two.

At 10/1, Awesome Alana, with Benjamin Hernandez aboard, is a very likely show ticket. This four-year-old filly has a record that suggests she might even be worth an across the board here: Eight money finishes in ten starts, three of them wins.

This is a maiden special weight race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of 1-1/8 miles on turf for a purse of $80,000.

My money is on the fourth-favored (9/2) entry here — Amano, ridden by Nik Juarez. This three-year-old colt has a better record for this field than the odds suggest: Three money finishes in five career starts.

At 50/1, My Boy Paddy, with Jorge Vargas, Jr. aboard, looks like a good value show ticket. This three-year-old gelding moneyed two of his four career starts and Vargas is no slouch in the jockey department. Don’t get greedy, though — show bet only.

This is an allowance race for New York-foaled three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs on turf for a purse of $72,000.

If the second-favored (4/1) entry On the Couch, with John Velazquez aboard, starts this race, I’m betting him to win. If he’s scratched for whatever reason, and the also-eligible Notorious Flirt, ridden by Jose Lezcano, is in the race, then my win bet goes to Notorious Flirt.

For the record, On the Couch (a three-year-old colt) moneyed three of his four career starts, winning one. The three-year-old gelding Notorious Flirt finished in the money four of his seven starts, winning one.

There are several longshot entries in this race, but none of them appear likely to finish anywhere near the front of the pack.
