Picks for the Alsco Uniforms 250 – NASCAR Xfinity Series (2022)

| July 6, 2022 3:09 pm PDT

Unfortunately, my streak of top picks winning in the Xfinity Series ended last week, but it wasn’t a wash. Ty Gibbs was among my NASCAR picks, and he passed Kyle Larson on the final lap to score the victory.

The Xfinity Series should see a thrilling race with a trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Atlanta’s repave brought exciting action to the Spring race. The track offers superspeedway-like racing, giving it a similar feel to Daytona and Talladega.

Could that lead to a surprise winner? Check out my Alsco Uniforms 250 predictions.

A.J. Allmendinger (+650)

A.J. Allmendinger didn’t exhibit his typical road course dominance at Road America, but he ran near the front. Unfortunately, a pit road penalty left him deep in the pack. He recovered to score a sixth-place finish.

We know Allmendinger is the go-to pick on road courses, but he’s also among my NASCAR betting picks for superspeedway races. Check out his superspeedway finishes in 2022.

  • Daytona: 2nd
  • Atlanta: 3rd
  • Talladega: 3rd

It’s amazing Allmendinger has never won at Daytona or Talladega because he has come close many times. Allmendinger nearly won the 2022 season-opener but lost the lead moments before the race-ending caution.

He was in the thick of things at Atlanta and Talladega but couldn’t score the victory. Allmendinger’s average running position ranks top four in all three races. Is there any question about his placement in my Alsco Uniforms 250 picks?

His consistency has been off the charts in 2022. However, we’re waiting for a breakout performance on an oval. Allmendinger led 18+ laps at Daytona and Atlanta.

It wouldn’t be an official superspeedway win, but it’d be his first win on a drafting track. Can he finally break through on the track type?

Austin Hill (+750)

Austin Hill is starting to hit his stride in his first full-time Xfinity Series season. Hill has five top 10 finishes in his last six races, including a trio of top-five finishes. That bodes well for his Atlanta hopes.

Hill kicked off the season by winning the 2022 Xfinity Series race at Daytona. I never thought of Hill as a superspeedway racer in the Truck Series, but he has been the best in the Xfinity Series.

He finished first and second, respectively, at Daytona and Atlanta. Hill crashed at Talladega, leading to a poor finish. Check out his average running position at each track.

  • Daytona: 5.0 (1st)
  • Atlanta: 6.0 (1st)
  • Talladega: 5.0 (1st)

This may be the first time I’m seeing Hill under (+1000) odds. Well, now I know why the Alsco Uniforms 250 odds have him at (+750).

Hill has stayed near the front in the three superspeedway races. He didn’t have the finish to show for it at Talladega, but he came through at Daytona and Atlanta. He would love redemption after losing the lead in the final two laps at Atlanta.

My NASCAR predictions are eying Hill for Saturday’s race.

Landon Cassill (+1600)

Landon Cassill’s move to Kaulig Racing has yielded career numbers. Cassill has career highs in top-five and top 10 finishes as we approach the halfway point. He has to be careful as he’s the final driver inside the playoffs.

Cassill has four straight finishes of 15th or worse, but there’s hope for a strong finish at Atlanta. We didn’t see a great finish at Daytona, but he earned redemption at Atlanta and Talladega.

  • Atlanta: 5th
  • Talladega: 4th

Kaulig Racing has been the cream of the crop for superspeedway racing. Justin Haley has moved to the Cup Series, but he had four superspeedway wins in 12 starts. We talked about A.J. Allmendinger and his near misses.

Last season, Jeb Burton captured his first career win at Talladega, driving for Kaulig Racing. The Alsco Uniforms 250 betting odds prove Cassill’s victory wouldn’t be a big surprise.

His average running position has been in the 10-11 range at Daytona, Atlanta, and Talladega. We’ve seen him outperform that with a pair of top-five finishes.

There’s value with picking Cassill to score his first career victory. My free Alsco Uniforms 250 picks could do much worse for a driver with (+1600) odds.

Ryan Sieg (+3300)

I like Landon Cassill’s value for Atlanta, but I’d be lying if I said he was my favorite NASCAR pick. Instead, that honor belongs to Ryan Sieg. Sieg has always been a strong superspeedway racer, but he looked consistent everywhere in 2022.

Unfortunately, he recently had a stretch of four straight finishes outside the top 10. However, he enters Atlanta with back-to-back top 10 finishes.

He has come close to his first career win a few times, but this year’s Atlanta race may have been his best opportunity.

Sieg led on the final restart but lost the lead to Ty Gibbs. It was a tough defeat, but he should be a top contender for this weekend’s race.

He has finished top 10 in the three superspeedway races in 2022, including a fifth-place finish at Talladega. Six of his 15 career top-five finishes are at Daytona and Talladega. We know Atlanta races like both tracks.

It’s amazing that you can wager on someone of his caliber at this price. My NASCAR predictions would’ve included Sieg if he was in the (+2000) range.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he captured his first win at Atlanta. Will he be in your Alsco Uniforms 250 predictions?

2022 Alsco Uniforms 250 Prop Bets

The recent success of my Xfinity Series picks has me exploring the top prop bets. These can be a nice alternative if you don’t like my NASCAR betting picks.

Noah Gragson to Finish Top 5 (-110)

Noah Gragson drew negative headlines after intentionally causing a wreck at Road America. NASCAR fined Gragson and docked him 30 points. What better way to put behind a rough week with a victory at Atlanta?

Gragson crashed while competing for the win in the Spring Atlanta race. However, he finished third at Daytona and won at Talladega. He had a top-three average running position in each race.

Gragson was the talk of the Xfinity Series early in the season but we haven’t seen the same race-winning speed. He had two wins and six top-five finishes in his first nine races but hasn’t visited victory lane in his last seven races.

It’s safe to say he’ll finish top-five at Atlanta.

Riley Herbst to Finish Top 5 (+300)

Riley Herbst has been one of the more impressive drivers in the Xfinity Series. His 12.7 average finish is well better than his 17.1 from last season. He also has as many top-five finishes as last season.

Hopefully, Herbst will clear last year’s top-five total with a strong performance at Atlanta. He has been one of the drivers to beat on the superspeedways.

  • Daytona: 4th
  • Atlanta: 4th
  • Talladega: 7th

Herbst wasn’t a top contender at Atlanta, but his average running position ranked top-five at Daytona and Talladega. He has shown the ability to put himself in position at the end of these races.

My expert Alsco Uniforms 250 picks have faith in him scoring another top-five finish.

Who Will Win the Alsco Uniforms 250?

My Pick: Austin Hill (+750)Bet on Xfinity Series Racing at BetUS

This is one of those races where I’m not favoring one driver over the field. I would have no problem with A.J. Allmendinger or Ryan Sieg being your top pick. You could even take a shot at Riley Herbst winning the race.

The numbers show that Austin Hill has been the driver to beat on superspeedways in 2022. He should be a top contender at Atlanta as long as there’s not a big crash. My Alsco Uniforms 250 prediction has him in victory lane.

Feel free to watch Saturday’s race at 5 p.m. ET on the USA Network. Check out the NASCAR betting apps to make your picks.
