Following three weeks of memorable action, we have reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. But who will punch their ticket to Sunday’s final?

On Wednesday, Burkina Faso and Senegal face off in the first semi-final. Cameroon and Egypt will contest the second semi-final on Thursday, as the hosts go head-to-head with the seven-time champions.

Read on to discover my predictions for the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals. I will also share my best bets for the AFCON semi-finals after my predictions, so make sure you stick around for those.

Senegal FINALLY conceded its first goal of the tournament in the quarter-finals. However, the Lions of Teranga still ended up securing a straightforward 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea.

Senegal managed to just score a single goal during the group stage, but the forwards have upped their game in the knockout phase. Having netted five goals in their last two outings, the Lions of Teranga are now firing at both ends of the pitch.

Let’s face it – nobody expected Burkina Faso to reach the last four. The Stallions were priced at 41.00 to secure the title at the end of the group stage, but they are now just two wins away from lifting the trophy.

Burkina Faso is priced at 5.00 to win on Wednesday. By contrast, Senegal is the heavy favorite at 1.75. That tells you everything you need to know about the gulf in quality between these two sides.

With the likes of Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli), Idrissa Gueye (PSG), and Sadio Mane (Liverpool) leading the way, Senegal should be far too strong for Burkina Faso.

This is undoubtedly the most intriguing semi-final. In the green corner, Cameroon is aiming to clinch the trophy on home soil. And in the red corner, Egypt is hoping to secure a record eighth AFCON title.

Last time out, the hosts beat the Gambia 2-0. They enjoyed 62% possession and racked up 18 shots, with Karl Toko Ekambia bagging a brace.

Somewhat surprisingly, Vincent Aboubakar failed to get on the scoresheet against the Gambia. The deadly striker netted six goals across the first four games, putting himself in pole position for the Golden Boot.

On the flip side, Egypt’s route to the last four has not been straightforward. The Pharaohs lost their opening match to Nigeria before beating Guinea-Bissau and Sudan to book their place in the knockouts.

Having followed the tournament closely, it’s safe to say that Cameroon has performed better than Egypt. For that reason, I’m backing the Indomitable Lions to maul the Pharaohs.

The Lions of Teranga have conceded just a single goal across their past six matches, keeping five clean sheets in the process. It is also worth noting that Burkina Faso has failed to score more than one goal in a single game at AFCON 2021.

There is nothing fancy about my betting pick for Cameroon vs. Egypt. I’m going with the home win for this matchup, simply because the hosts have looked much stronger than the Pharaohs throughout the tournament.
