| February 17, 2021 1:39 pm PDT

The dust has just about settled on the Daytona 500, meaning it’s time to make my prediction and betting pick for the 2021 O’Reilly Auto Parts 253.

The race goes down at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course this Sunday, February 21. I’ll be sharing my betting tips for the NASCAR Cup Series’ latest race and a little advice to go with it.

The odds for the race are going to be interesting, especially if you are gambling on the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 to win real money.

Now, you might be asking why Elliott the favorite to win the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253. If so, here’s how it works.

As this is just the second time we have seen a race on this course, the oddsmakers have essentially had to rely on two main things when coming up with odds.

  • Drivers’ previous results on this course.
  • Drivers’ previous results on all road courses.

As it stands, the sample size for the Daytona Road Course is small. There was just one race here, which was won by Elliott in August 2020.

If you’re making a prediction for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 winner, you’re not going to have much to go by working on the previous results at the DRC alone. Look at the drivers that tend to fare better on road courses than their competitors, too.

2021 O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 – Top Contenders

It’s time for my predictions for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253.

Here are the three main contenders for the race. I’ve left some information that could help you make your betting pick for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 this Sunday.

Chase Elliott

  • Odds to Win: +200
  • Wins at the Daytona Road Course: 1
  • Wins on Road Courses: 5

Although he has only recently turned 25, Chase Elliott is already one of NASCAR’s best road course drivers in history.

With five wins, he is just one behind some of NASCAR’s greatest drivers of all time, such as Richard “The King” Petty, Bobby Allison, and Rusty Wallace on six.

Elliott is the defending Cup Series champion. He will have identified this race as one that he should be winning, and it’s hard to look past him here.

But will Elliott be my O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 pick? Let’s look at a couple of other drivers before I reveal that.

Martin Truex Jr.

  • Odds to Win: +550
  • Wins at the Daytona Road Course: 0
  • Wins on Road Courses: 4

Truex’s odds for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 come in at +550, making him the second favorite for the Daytona Road Course’s Cup Series race this Sunday.

I’m not keen on Truex, to be honest. Without sounding too harsh, I believe his best days are behind him, and he is suffering a decline of confidence as a result.

Truex is here because of his solid form at road courses. He finished third in the inaugural race on this track in 2020, too.

I think there are better options available.

Kyle Busch

  • Odds to Win: +700
  • Wins at the Daytona Road Course: 0
  • Wins on Road Courses: 4

At the odds above, could Busch represent good betting value for the race?

Well, the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series champion has four wins on road courses at the highest level.

14th at the Daytona 500 last week and the winner of the Busch Clash, Busch will also be targeting this race as one to win. And I think he has a good chance here.

Busch registered a DNF in 2020’s race. But that shouldn’t deter you from putting him among your potential picks for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 this weekend.

Other Drivers to Watch at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253

  • Ryan Blaney (+750)
  • Denny Hamlin (+800)
  • Kevin Harvick (+950)

When it comes to data, this isn’t a race where we have much to go by.

In fact, we only have one race, which was last year. Keep this in mind when trying to find the best odds for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253.

Ryan Blaney comes in at +750. But is he going to be up there with the top bets for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 this weekend? That’s the question.

Both Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick are worth keeping an eye on. Especially at those prices.

Moving on. Who wins the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253?

My O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 Pick

  • Chase Elliott

I can’t imagine that my O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 betting pick is going to raise any eyebrows.

It’s not the most adventurous pick that you have ever seen, but then again, there is nothing to support going wild if you are betting on the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 online. The sample size to go by is too small, meaning that we must consider a few other things than track history.

Now, the fact that Elliott won the first and only race here cannot be discounted. But his record on road courses — in addition to his status as defending champion, his 2nd place finish at the Daytona 500, and his speed — ultimately see him get my vote.

My main O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 predictions are that Chase Elliott wins in style and that Kevin Harvick has a strong race.

More O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 Picks

So that’s that for my 2021 O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 betting preview.

I have picked Chase Elliott to win this weekend’s race but also count a strong performance from Kevin Harvick among my O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 predictions.

Will you be wagering on Elliott to win? Or placing a bet on Harvick? How you choose to bet on this one is up to you, of course, but I hope the information above helped to make up your mind.

Now, if you’re betting on the next 2021 NASCAR Cup Series race, I have some more information you might find helpful.
