Betting Preview for the 2021 NASCAR Buschy McBusch Race 400 – Odds, Tips, and Trends
No, I haven’t lost the plot. Yes, the next NASCAR Cup Series race is known as the Buschy McBusch Race 400.
You can thank Busch beer and excitable internet folks across the world for the unique name. Of course, you won’t hear me moaning too much about it, as NASCAR has long been known for some downright preposterous race names over the years.
Anyway, I’ll provide my betting preview, including odds, top bets, predictions, and betting picks for the Buschy McBusch Race 400 at Kansas this Sunday, May 2. The good news is that the names of the drivers remain the same, so you’re not going to have too much difficulty making your Cup Series picks for this weekend.
Still, I’d recommend checking out what I have in store for you before you hit “place” on those Buschy McBusch Race bets of yours.
Odds for the Buschy McBusch Race 400
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson are the betting favorites for the 2021 Buschy McBusch Race 400.
Despite Hamlin being pretty much an all-or-nothing driver here over the years, his consistency in the current campaign seems to have made him the one to watch, according to the top NASCAR betting sites online.
The Joe Gibbs Racing star has finished in the top-5 in eight of the ten starts this season but is still searching for that elusive first victory. A win would guarantee Hamlin a playoffs spot and would take a little pressure off the Cup Series leader’s shoulders. His last win came in Talladega in August, so it’s high time for a victory.
But is his inability to win enough to look elsewhere for betting value for Kansas? Could the best bets for the Buschy McBusch Race 400 winner be with the bettors who are thinking outside the box this Sunday?
Top Buschy McBusch Race 400 Betting Tips
- Where: Kansas Speedway, Kansas
- When: Sunday, May 2
I’ve put together a few betting tips for you ahead of the Buschy McBusch Race 400 this weekend.
As usual, I’m looking for that solid combination of betting value and form and believe there are three drivers, in particular, you should look out for.
There is also one driver to look past.
I get the logic of betting on Hamlin to win the Buschy McBusch Race 400.
He has been incredibly consistent in 2021, and it’s only a matter of time before he cracks his first win of the campaign. But by the same token, he has failed to take that extra step towards the finish line and shouldn’t exactly be rewarded for that.
At odds of +500, I think there are better options available.
Look at Harvick, Elliott, and Larson
My top candidates to win the 2021 Buschy McBusch Race 400 are Kevin Harvick (+1000), Chase Elliott (+900), and Kyle Larson (+500).
Larson’s odds are the shortest of the three. He is also the only driver of the guys above without a win on the track. Harvick has three wins, while Elliott crossed the line first at the 2018 Hollywood Casino 400.
Still, I am keen on Larson putting in a good performance this weekend. But as for putting all my eggs in his basket? I don’t think so. As per our recommended NASCAR betting strategy, it can often be a good idea to hold off on a driver until you have seen them in practice.
In Larson’s case, that might not be a bad idea for the sake of your NASCAR bets this weekend.
Key Betting Trends for the Buschy McBusch Race 400
- 2020 Winner: Denny Hamlin
- 2020 Winning Team and Manufacturer: Joe Gibbs Racing/Toyota
- Most Successful Active Driver in This Race: Denny Hamlin (2 Wins), Brad Keselowski (2 Wins)
- Most Wins (Active Teams): Joe Gibbs Racing (4)
- Most Successful Active Manufacturer: Toyota (5)
Last year’s Spring race in Kansas was named the 2020 Super Start Batteries 400.
That event was won by Denny Hamlin, who followed up a win in the 2019 Autumn race on the same track with an equally impressive performance. That means Hamlin has won the last two Cup Series races at Kansas.
All in all, this race has only been going for a decade. Keselowski won the first event in 2011, with Hamlin winning in 2012. Funnily enough, Keselowski would take his second victory here in 2019, with Hamlin following suit in 2020.
History suggests that a JGR driver in a Toyota will more than likely win this race. But will my betting pick for the Buschy McBusch Race 400 adhere to that logic?
Buschy McBusch Race 400 Pick
May is the month when Harvick will really show his quality.
Having enjoyed his best return since Daytona in terms of finishing place and laps led, he reminded everyone that he had not gone away.
Harvick loves Kansas and has compiled a very attractive-looking record here over the years. More recently, he has an average finish of 6.83 from his last six starts, with one win, three top-5, and four top-10s in that time.
Overall, he has four poles, three wins, three second-place finishes, eight top-threes, and 16 top-10s since 2001. That’s a serious return, wouldn’t you say?
Harvick’s betting odds are juiced up following hit and miss performances so far this season. At Kansas, he is big value at +1000. Hence, he is my Buschy McBusch Race 400 pick for Sunday.
