Triple Spin Poker

Combining video poker and slot machines, Spin Poker is one of IGT’s most successful video poker machines in history. Triple Spin Poker takes things a step further by featuring three sets of slots reels—rather than the single set offered in Spin Poker.

This makes for additional excitement and more big payouts since you have three slot machines spinning at once.

But how does all of this fit into a video poker format? And can you win more money with Triple Spin Poker as opposed to normal video poker machines?

Find out as we cover Triple Spin Poker’s betting options, rules, variations, and pay table.

How to Play Triple Spin Poker Video Poker

Triple Spin Poker Betting

You have three choices when selecting your betting options in Triple Spin Poker:

  • 1 to 3 games or sets of reels
  • 1 to 9 pay lines or hands on each game
  • 1 to 5 coins on each pay line

The number of games and pay lines that you select doesn’t have a bearing on the house edge.

But due to a favorable increase in royal flush payouts on the max bet, you should wager all 5 coins.

If you play all 5 coins and 9 pay lines on a single slot machine, that’s 45 total coins or $11.25. If you bet the max on all three games that’s 135 coins or $33.75 per turn.

It takes lots of money to bet this much over any duration of time. If you do want to play this many games/pay lines, it’s nice if you can find a nickel denomination game.

A nickel denomination machine would cut the 45 coin bet to $2.25 per round, and the 135 coin wager to $6.75.

Playing Hands

When you’ve chosen the number of games, pay lines, and coins you want to bet, click Deal/Spin to start the round. Each of the 3 slot machines are on a 5×3 grid, and you only see the middle reel spin on each of them.

When the reels quit spinning, you’ll see a 5 card hand in the middle reel, along with two face down hands in the upper and lower reels.

You choose what cards to keep in the middle reel of each game, and your selections will be copied in the other active lines.

Here’s an example: you keep two aces in the middle reel; you’ll then see two aces flipped over in both the upper and lower reels.

When you’re finished selecting the cards that you want to hold, click Draw/Spin to complete your hands. Each active game will spin face down cards to determine your hands.

Similar to a slot machine, you’ll see solid lines strike through any winning combinations that you form. This is nice because, without these lines, it’s otherwise confusing to tell where your wins occur.

Triple Spin Poker Variations

Like many unique IGT slot machines, Triple Spin Poker comes bundled with different games. Here’s a look at the available video poker variants you can choose when playing Triple Spin Poker:

Bonus Poker: Pays bonuses for specific 4 of a kind hands, including four aces; four 2s through 4s; and four 5s through kings.

Bonus Poker Deluxe: In contrast to Bonus Poker, which only offers a top bonus payout for four aces, Bonus Poker Deluxe pays a large bonus for any 4 of a kind.

Deuces Wild: All 2s are wild in this game, allowing for a 5 of a kind. You also get a special payout for four deuces.

Double Bonus Deuces Wild: Offers bonus payouts for four deuces; four deuces with an ace; five aces; five 3s, 4s, or 5s; and five 6s through kings.

Double Bonus: Offers double the payouts for the same bonus hands as Bonus Poker.

Double Double Bonus: Offers the same bonus payouts as Double Bonus, with the addition of payouts for four aces w / a 2, 3, or 4 kicker; and four 2s, 3s, or 4s w / an ace, 2, 3, or 4 kicker.

Jacks or Better: The lowest qualifying payout is a pair of jacks. This game offers one of the simplest pay tables in video poker, making it good for beginners.

Joker Poker: Much like Jacks or Better, except for the addition of a joker wild card. Also, the lowest qualifying payout is a pair of kings.

Triple Spin Poker Pay Table and Odds

Although Triple Spin Poker has a lot going on at once, its pay tables are the same as standard video poker variants. For the sake of discussion, we’ll look at a common Double Bonus pay table:

If you follow perfect strategy with this 9 / 7 Double Bonus game, you’ll earn 99.11% payback.

If you find a 10 / 7 Double Bonus machine, which pays 10 coins for a full house and 7 coins for a flush, you’ll earn 100.17% payback.

Playing bonus games is especially fun with Triple Spin Poker because, with 27 pay lines activated, you have a better chance of hitting these big payouts.

Spin Poker Doesn’t Affect Odds

Some of the features that IGT adds to their video poker machines—like multipliers and keno cards—increase long term payback.

But this isn’t the case with Triple Spin Poker, which has the same payback no matter whether you do or don’t use all of the pay lines and games.

The only thing that activating more slot machines does is boost your number of chances to win on each turn.

Bet All 5 Coins on Each Hand

Regardless of whether you play more pay lines and games, you should always bet all 5 coins on each hand.

As you can see in the pay table above, the royal flush payout is 4,000 coins on a 5 coin win, versus 1,000 coins on a 4 coin win. This lone payout discrepancy is the reason why you stand to earn higher payback with max bets.

All of the other payouts in Double Bonus and other Triple Spin Poker games feature proportionate increases as you bet more coins.

Triple Spin Poker Strategy

If you already know strategy for specific video poker games, you won’t need to adjust this strategy when playing Triple Spin Poker. Considering that all of the games feature standard pay tables, the strategy remains the same too.

But we’d still like to discuss important elements that will help you with this game, including Triple Spin Poker’s variance, a sample strategy chart, and using video poker training software.

Higher Variance

You’ll experience higher variance with Triple Spin Poker because one deck is being used for all the hands in each game. Going further, all 9 pay lines/hands depend upon the cards displayed in the 5×3 grid.

This differs from a standard video poker game, where you only lose one hand when the 52 card deck isn’t kind.

Considering that it takes 45 coins to play all of the pay lines and coins in a single slot machine, you stand to lose significantly when weak cards fill the 5×3 grid.

If you don’t mind a greater risk factor involved, then this won’t bother you. But if you have a small bankroll and want to make it last, then play 1 3 pay lines or find a different game.

Sample Double Bonus Poker Strategy Chart

It’s important to find a specific strategy chart for whatever game you choose with Triple Spin Poker. But if you’re looking for something to get started with, here’s a strategy chart for the popular Double Bonus game.

When reading this, start at the top of the chart and scan down until you find your hand. Assuming you can’t find your hand listed here, discard everything and draw for 5 new cards:

Video Poker Trainers

A good way to perfect your skills with one or more Triple Spin Poker games is to use video poker training software.

These programs see you play video poker like normal, and they point out mistakes you make while playing. The trainer also shows you what the correct play is and the math behind why it’s the right decision.

You can find free video poker trainers that cover the most popular games like Jacks or Better, Joker Poker, Bonus Poker, Double Bonus, and Double Double Bonus.

You may have to buy software to practice games like Double Bonus Deuces Wild and Bonus Poker Deluxe.

If you like Spin Poker and want to take the action a step further, then Triple Spin Poker is a great game to try.

This machine triples your slots excitement by offering three sets of spinning reels. And with 9 pay lines on each game, Triple Spin Poker will appeal to hardcore slots enthusiasts too.

Many players also appreciate combining the skill aspects of video poker with the randomness of slot machines. And nobody will argue with the fact that you can earn higher payback with Triple Spin Poker video poker than you can with any slot machine.

The main downside to Triple Spin Poker is that you have to bet more to enjoy the full benefits of this game.

On a quarter denomination game, most players won’t be able to bet 45 coins on a single set of reels—let alone three different games.

But the good news is that you aren’t penalized from a strategy or payback perspective when playing less than 9 pay lines one each game.

This being said, we recommend that you give this unique video poker experience a few spins to see how you like it.
