It’s a popular casino game that’s also called tri card poker at some places. You should have no issues finding it online.

How You Should Choose a High-Stakes Casino to Join

You have two options. You can choose a site based on our recommendations above or find a casino on your own.

There’s nothing wrong with finding a casino on your own. It does take more work, though. You’ll need to do your research to make sure the casino is up to snuff.

What exactly should you look for? Here are our suggestions.

If you’re going to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars per hour, you need to make sure it’s at a reputable casino. You want to make sure the casino you join is known for running fair games, paying their players, and more.

This is pretty simple to figure out. Look the casino up in forums, read reviews, comb social media, etc. Ignore the tinfoil hat wearers who say the casino is rigged. But don’t ignore patterns that suggest the casino rips their players off or fails to pay them in a reasonable timeframe.

A casino that’s licensed doesn’t guarantee that you or your money will be safe. But it is a small financial barrier to entry. It means that they’re following the rules, which counts for something.

There’s no perfect jurisdiction for a casino to be licensed through. That said, we’ve found that the best casinos are licensed through the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC), and Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

The jurisdiction is important because some are better than others for when you have issues against the casino that you can’t resolve yourself. For example, if the casino pulls a fast one over you. You can go to the gaming regulator to see if they can help resolve the issue, maybe even get your money back.

Banking Limits

Banking limits for most options nowadays are incredible small. You can deposit $2,500, $5,000, or $10,000 at a time. Well, that’s not going to last you long playing for high stakes, is it?

The ideal scenario is to find a casino with unlimited deposit limits. Or the ability to contact support and request the limits you need.

Don’t forget cash-outs limits, too. If you’re spending tens of thousands of dollars, it’s reasonable to expect that you’ll win tens of thousands. You’ll want to make sure that you’ll be able to cash out your winnings in as few attempts as possible.

Banking Fees

Most casinos charge fees on their cash-outs. Some (ridiculous casinos) charge fees on their deposits, too. If it’s a flat fee, say, $45 for a wire, then there’s not much you can do other than compare casinos and find the one with the smallest fee.

However, some casinos charge a percentage, which is outright crazy, especially for a high-stakes player. This can cost you hundreds of dollars, maybe even thousands, for every transaction you make.

Try to avoid casinos that charge a percentage-based fee if possible.

Regardless, do your homework, compare fees, and try to join the casino with the smallest fees.

You want to look for several things here. One, you want to find a casino that lets three card poker players claim their welcome bonus. You also want to make sure the casino has a VIP club you can join, and preferably one for high-limit players. You also want to make sure that their bonus terms are reasonable.

We talk more about promotions for three card poker players later on in this guide.

None of the above matters much if you can’t find the type of three card poker game (animated and/or live) you want to play at the stakes you want to play at. We’ll talk more about what’s possible in the next section.

There you have it. This is what we recommend you look for.

You’re not going to find the perfect casino. Such a thing doesn’t exist. But you can find a casino that’s pretty darn close – one that checks most of the boxes above.

If you want to have a safe, enjoyable, and entertaining experience playing high-limit three card poker, we suggest you don’t play until you do.

What You Can Expect to Find Online

Let’s talk about your three card poker options. What can you expect to find online?

Fortunately, you’ll have the option to play both animated three card (or tri-card) poker and live dealer three card poker.

This is assuming you choose a casino that offers both. Not all casinos will, including those who happen to offer live dealer games. You’ll want to do your due diligence before you sign up anywhere. A good place to start is our casino reviews.

For this guide, though, let’s say you find a casino that offers both. What stakes can you expect to play for?

As for animated games, we found casinos that let you play for as much as $250/hand. That’s not a lot – you can bet a lot more playing blackjack or roulette.

That said, based on our experience, we wouldn’t be shocked if you found a $500/hand or $1,000/hand animated game with a little digging.

That’s not too shabby.

However, if that’s not high enough for you, then your best bet is to play a live dealer poker game. You’ll play fewer hands per hour, as a human isn’t as fast at dealing as a computer is. This is no problem, though, as we found games that let you bet as much as £5,000/hand (or $7,000-ish USD).

That’s more like it.

You might have to do some digging to find stakes this high. Because even if a casino uses the same live dealer software as everyone else, that doesn’t mean they’ll offer stakes that high. It can be hit or miss.

It’s good to know that these games DO exist online, though, right?!

It might be tough to find a casino that lets you play that high. However, you shouldn’t have an issue finding a game where you can bet $1,000 to $1,500 per hand.

Still not high enough?

Here are a few more tips you can try if $1,500+ is not high enough for you.

Play the side bets
We don’t recommend this, as you’ll increase the house edge. That said, it is a way to get more of your money on the table each hand.
Join the casino’s VIP program
One perk often included in a VIP program is higher table stakes. Most casinos don’t say how high you can play for or what games this may or may not apply to. But it’s worth a shot. Though, keep in mind that this option may not be unlocked until you’ve reached a specific VIP status/level.
Ask for higher limits
Send support an email. Let them know you want to play for higher stakes. Many casinos accommodate high-limit players. Just let them know what you want and see if they’ll work with you.
Play multiple games
Another option you don’t see many people talk about (other than us) is playing several three card poker games at the same time. You can try this at the same casino, but you might have better luck playing poker at two or more casinos.

This will allow you to play for tens of thousands or maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars per hour. That said, remember that you’ll need to split your bankroll up between each casino you plan to play at.

These suggestions aren’t foolproof or guaranteed. But we’re confident that between the stakes we know you can find online and the options above, you should be able to bet a substantial sum of money every hand and/or hour.

How Promotions Work for Three Card Poker Players

One of the benefits of playing online is claiming promotions. Typical promotions include deposit bonuses, free bets, VIP programs, and so on.

As a three card poker player, you will be able to claim some of these offers. But there’s a few things you need to know before you do.

First, you’re not going to be able to claim every offer. Some casinos don’t allow card game players to claim their bonuses, for reasons we’ll soon explain.

Two, if you can claim an offer, it’s almost all but guaranteed that the terms you’ll need to agree to and fulfill will be far worse than they are for slots players. The reason for this is pretty simple.

Slots and keno are some of the worst games in the casino…for you, not the casino. Casinos make a nice chunk of change from their slots and keno players. Why do you think every casino has so many machines in them?

Card games, video poker, craps, and so on are the opposite. These games have much lower, more player-friendly house edges. These lower house edges create more variance for the casino. In other words, winning or breaking even at these games is completely normal.

Well, the casino can’t let you regularly win or break even at one of their games AND let you claim a bonus too. You’d be all but guaranteed to walk away with a profit, while the casino would lose money.

Do you think that’s going to happen? No way!

What’s going to happen – assuming the casino lets you claim an offer – is that they will handicap their playthrough terms. You’ll need to wager the deposit and/or bonus 5x-10x more than the default amount. Sometimes even more than that.

For example, if a slots player needs to wager a $1,000 bonus 30x, that means they need to spend $30,000 before they can cash out.

A three card poker player will need to wager $150,000-$300,000 to earn the same offer.

Is this worth it?

That’s up to you to decide. If you do decide you want to claim an offer, the bonus and bonus terms are variables you’ll want to compare before you sign up somewhere.

That said, most offers are going to be relatively small. This will also factor into your decision. You’ll want to reach out to support to ask if they have anything more substantial. Many casinos say they accommodate high-stakes players, though they never say to what extent.

It’s an individual thing.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is free live dealer bets. Many casinos offer these. You make your first bet in the live casino out of your own pocket. If you win, you get nothing.

If you lose, however, the casino will reimburse you. These offers are usually small, though – like $25 – which means that you may want to ask if the casino will bump this up for you.

Last, you’ll want to look for a VIP program. A basic VIP program is okay. You’ll earn points, which you can use to move up in levels and/or exchange them for cash back. If a casino has a multilevel VIP program, the higher up you go, the more you’ll get out of it. This can include bonuses, higher table stakes, and so on.

Other casinos offer VIP programs exclusive to high-limit players. You’ll either be invited to join, which is based on your play and how much you spend, or you can reach out to them.

We’d suggest reaching out to them from the start, as you don’t want to go a month or two without receiving perks. All this money adds up and can easily offset some of your losses. If you can negotiate a good enough deal, there’s a slight possibility that you can come out ahead if you play/run well.

We’ll help you with playing well in the next section.

Strategies for Three Card Poker Players

Before we wrap things up, let’s talk strategy. Three card poker might have a great house edge, but you’re still going to lose playing it in the long run.

For that reason, it makes sense to do everything in your power to shift the odds in your favor as much as you can. You’ve already done a little of that by learning how to find a solid promotion or VIP program. Let’s see if we can nudge it a little more with a few tactics.

Fortunately for us, playing optimally isn’t difficult at all. All you have to do is raise any hand that is a Q/6/4 or better.

This can confuse some players because they’re not sure if “better” includes hands like Q/7/2 or Q/5/5. Some cards in these hands are better, while others are worse.

Figuring this out is simple. You start with the card furthest on the left, then make your way to the right as needed.

For example, if the first card is a queen, then it’s a tie, and you move to the next card. If the next card is a 6 or better, then the hand is strong enough to raise. The card on the right doesn’t matter.

If the middle card is a tie, then move to the card on the right. If it’s the same (4) or higher, raise. All other hands you’ll want to fold.

The reason why Q/6/4 is the cutoff is because you can expect to lose 1.00255 units playing Q/6/3, whereas you’d lose only 1 unit folding it. It’s a nominal difference, but one that adds up over time, especially if you’re playing for high stakes.

It’s the complete opposite with Q/6/4 – you’ll lose a tinier amount raising it, only .993378, which is less than the 1 unit you’d lose if you were to fold.

And….that’s the extent of the strategies available.

Other than that, we recommend skipping most side bets or progressives. That includes the Pairs Plus, 6 Card, Prime, Millionaire Maker, or any other side bet you might find. They’ll all add to the house edge. Sometimes they’ll add as much as 15% or 18%, which is just ridiculous.

Of course, if you’re playing for high stakes, you obviously have money to burn. You can do whatever you want with it.

But we assume most people want to win as much as possible.

And the best way to accomplish that is to raise hands with a Q/6/4 or better and skip all side bets.

There you have it. That’s what you need to know about playing three card poker for high stakes online.

Fortunately, you’ll have a few options. You can play animated or live dealer games. The stakes are reasonable, too. Depending on the casino and the type of game you want to play, you should have no problem finding a three card poker game you can play for $250 to $7,000.

Just make sure you find a legit casino first, as you don’t want to be taken advantage of as soon as you load your account up with tens of thousands of dollars.

You’ll also want to make sure you find a solid VIP program and play with proper strategy. Because for the amount of money you’re spending, you should do everything you can to keep some of your hard-earned money in your pocket.
