WWE Confirms First Fight for SummerSlam 2021 – Who Else is Rumored to Appear?

| July 29, 2021 11:13 pm PDT

We have the first confirmed match for WWE SummerSlam 2021! The organization announced on Raw that Nikki A.S.H. will defend the Raw Women’s Championship versus Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley in a Triple Threat match.

This is the only official clash on the schedule at this point, but there are plenty of SummerSlam 2021 rumored matches. The event will take place on August 21 and considering its magnitude, there should be at least six or seven more bouts. Many of them should have a title on the line too.

Let’s take a look at what we know so far about the Triple Threat encounter and explore the most popular rumors about other 2021 SummerSlam matches.

Nikki A.S.H. (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair

Many thought that the WWE would simply end the feud between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair, but the organization picked a completely different direction.

Nikki A.S.H. was looking for an opportunity to cash in the contract she won at Money in the Bank 2021 and she found it last week.

Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair were in the mid of a fight for the Raw Women’s Championship when Nikki A.S.H. joined the show to steal the belt. She was visibly ecstatic as you can see from her post-fight interview.

Both Ripley and Flair were unhappy and wanted a chance to win the title. WWE decided to grant both of them an opportunity, so that’s how we got a Triple Threat match for the championship at SummerSlam 2021!

No further stipulations have been announced at this point.

WWE SummerSlam 2021 Rumored Matches

You can rest assured that WWE SummerSlam 2021 will feature at least several more mega-fights for different championships.

The rumors suggest that John Cena will fight Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. The returned superstar even challenged the champion who rejected the proposal for a SummerSlam 2021 fight.

And yet, a match between these two would make a lot of sense and this looks like the perfect storyline for Cena who has been out of action since WrestleMania 36.

Another returning wrestler that should be in involved is Goldberg. He almost immediately confronted Bobby Lashley who also rejected a challenge for WWE SummerSlam. And yet, with so much time left, it’s more likely that the two will fight at the event.

The same can be said about Seth Rollins and Edge.

The former attacked the latter at Money in the Bank, so a new feud is coming together. A clash at SummerSlam 2021 is probably the best way
to create hype around any storyline.

Many believe that’s the reason why Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks haven’t met since WrestleMania 37. Their bout was approved by most fans and a rematch makes a lot of sense. The 2021 WWE SummerSlam delivers an excellent opportunity and it won’t be a shocker to see them in action.

These are the SummerSlam potential matches that are most likely to be confirmed in the build-up to the event, but there will be more, for sure. We should have at least one Tag Team clash, so you will probably watch AJ Styles and Omos out there.

Our team will continue following the latest news, so expect more stories that cover the WWE SummerSlam 2021 in the near future.
