| October 8, 2021 9:44 am PDT

The 2022 major championship season gets underway in early April at the hallowed grounds of Augusta. It culminates in mid-July at the historic home of golf.

Now that the 2021-22 PGA Tour season is in full swing, let’s take a closer look at where and when the majors will be played in the upcoming year.

I’ve included an early look at the betting odds for each, highlighting all individuals priced under +4000.

2022 Masters

  • Where: Augusta National Golf Club – Augusta, GA
  • When: April 7-10
  • Defending Champion: Hideki Matsuyama
  • Winning Score in 2020: 278 (-10)

2022 Masters Odds

As is the case for all the majors in 2022, Jon Rahm’s name sits at the top of the list. The world’s #1-ranked golfer.

When Jon steers down Magnolia Lane in spring of next year, it’ll be the fifth time he’s made the trip to Augusta to compete.

Rahm finished 27th in his debut in 2017 and has been knocking on the door ever since. Perhaps 2022 is when “Rahmbo” gets a taste of a Green Jacket.

Jon Rahm’s Finishes at Augusta Since 2018
Year Scores Result
2018 75-68-65-69 (-11) 4
2019 69-70-71-68 (-10) T9
2020 69-66-72-71 (-10) T7

2022 PGA Championship

2022 PGA Championship Odds

Originally scheduled to be played at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ, the PGA of America axed that decision in January to avoid any turmoil. A couple of weeks later Southern Hills Country Club was chosen as the replacement.

Southern Hills CC was last on display at the 2021 Senior PGA Championship (won by Alex Cejka); it’s also hosted three US Opens.

The 2022 PGA Championship will be the fifth time the Wanamaker Trophy will be handed out at this venue.

PGA Championships at Southern Hills Country Club
Year Winner Winner Score
1970 Dave Stockton 279 (-1)
1982 Raymond Floyd 272 (-8)
1994 Nick Price 269 (-11)
2007 Tiger Woods 272 (-8)

2022 US Open

  • Where: The Country Club – Brookline, MA
  • When: June 16-19

  • Winning Score in 2020: 278 (-6)

2022 USA Open Odds

One of the five charter clubs that originated the USGA, The Country Club is an acclaimed Willie Campbell design that has stood the test of time, although Gil Hanse came in for a facelift in 2009 in preparation for hosting the 2013 US Amateur.

The Country Club at Brookline has hosted three previous US Opens (1913, 1963, 1988) and is the site of the famous Justin Leonard putt at the 1999 Ryder Cup.

Justin Thomas offered his perspective on how revered this place is.

“Just old school golf, all right in front of you, small greens. It’s one of those places where you walk around the clubhouse and grounds and you get a grasp of everything and how special it is.”

2022 Open Championship

  • Where: Old Course at St Andrews – St Andrews, Scotland
  • When: July 14-17
  • Defending Champion: Collin Morikawa
  • Winning Score in 2020: 265 (-15)

2022 Open Championship Odds

July marks the 150th Open. It also represents the 30th time that the Old Course at St. Andrews will host the proceedings.

I can’t help but wonder if Tiger will be in the field gunning for his fourth Claret Jug?

Woods competed in the 1995 British Open at St Andrews as a baby-faced amateur; he’s also been in the field for each of the four Open Championships held at the Old Course since (2000, 2005, 2010, 2015). This includes emerging as the Champion Golfer of the Year twice at “The Old Lady” (2000, 2005).
