Shuri Still Priced as the Clear Favorite to Be the Next Black Panther

Black Panther 2 premieres on July 8th, 2022. The sequel to the smash hit could be inching closer to crowning a successor to the late, great Chadwick Boseman, too.

It’s one of the great mysteries for the highly anticipated sequel, seeing that the titular character passed away, and the studios have been public about not replacing the T’Challa character.

The film franchise (and other Marvel movies) still needs someone to fill the Black Panther shoes, of course, and the leading candidate continues to be Shuri.

Odds for Who Will Be the Next Black Panther

Erik Killmonger+1400
Bucky Barnes+2200
Everett Ross+3000

Some of the top entertainment betting sites have already pushed out odds for who will become the next Black Panther, but price changes have allowed bettors to zero in on a clear frontrunner.

That would be none other than Shuri, who has been favored to take over the mantle for T’Challa, who was played by the late Chadwick Boseman.

This isn’t “new” news, in the sense that Black Panther fans and bettors alike have known for a while that Shuri is the tentative favorite to be the next Black Panther.

It is worth noting, however, that with updated Black Panther casting odds, she is still the favorite to take over the role, and that pricing around her has changed drastically.

Why is Shuri the Favorite?

It’s one thing to look at the odds for who will play Black Panther, but bettors will want enough logic behind the bet to decide to make it.

Shuri has been rumored to be the top option, but her price moved from -200 to -220. That tells bettors that her hold on the new role is strengthening.

There is even more evidence that Shuri is slated to be the top replacement option, seeing as no other candidate has odds better than +500, and every option has seen their odds drop, as well.

The biggest selling point? Shuri literally takes over the Black Panther mantle in the comics.

Could Outside Noise Complicate This Bet?

If you plan on betting on which character will be the next Black Panther, consider Shuri actress Letitia Wright has been engulfed in controversial takes for the past year.

Could that lead to Wright being replaced in this role? Perhaps, or maybe the studio keeps her on, reduces her role, and opts to go in a different direction with their Black Panther replacement.

After all, whoever becomes the new Black Panther is set up to be the face of this franchise, likely for several other movies.
