New Poker Room Coming to Western Pennsylvania in 2022

  • Live! Casino in Western Pennsylvania set to launch in early 2022.
  • The approval is still outstanding from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
  • The poker room could become the third of its kind in Western PA.

Western Pennsylvania is set to welcome a new poker venue if approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) is granted.

Operators at the Greensburg-based Live! Casino revealed plans to open a new room at its premises and is currently in the process of training dealers.

The room will be located adjacent to the Sports & Social Steel City, which is a sports-themed restaurant under the casino’s umbrella.

Plans for the 1,400 square foot poker room include seven tables with varying limits.

Three of a Kind

Should approval be granted, Live! Casino’s poker room will be third of its kind in Western Pennsylvania.

Existing rooms are located at the Hollywood Casino at the Meadows Racetrack as well as the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

This provides players in and around Pittsburgh — who would usually play at online poker sites — another option. An increase in gambling revenue is also being touted as another positive for the region.

Both Hollywood Park and Rivers Casino have still not returned to pre-pandemic levels, with limited options available to patrons.

For example, tables for live games at Rivers are open, but many of the more popular tournaments have still yet to be reintroduced. Hollywood has no immediate plans to introduce daily tournaments.

This is in stark contrast to Philadelphia. You can find daily tournaments back to pre-COVID levels at many of the poker rooms in Philly.

News of a new poker room in Pittsburgh should encourage competition between the two existing establishments and hopefully see some action and innovation in the new year.

Big Plans for the New Poker Room in Western P.A.

Live! Casino poker room general manager, Sean Sullivan, mentioned that the addition of the new room would be a good thing for Westmoreland County.

While stopping short of announcing further rooms, Sullivan was keen to point out how existing patrons should be excited to have something new to look forward to.

A free Poker Dealer School is just one of the innovative measures he hopes will catch the eye.

“Our new Poker Room will be exciting and provide our guests with yet another reason to enjoy their time with us at Live! Casino. Our free Poker Dealer School is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to start a career in the fast-paced gaming industry.

Live! is proud to continue its investment in Westmoreland County through opportunities like the free Poker Dealer School for members in and around our community.”

Players are looking forward to more variety in the region have every reason to be excited.

Especially those with an interest in learning how to play poker for the first time.
