Hard Rock Sportsbook Bristol Set to Launch in Virginia this July

  • Hard Rock Digital has confirmed its sportsbook will launch in Bristol this summer.
  • Bettors can also access a dedicated app in addition to land-based sports betting opportunities.
  • The sportsbook will be the first of its kind in the state of Virginia.

Those looking to wager on sports in the Old Dominion will have a new place to do so this July.

While real money betting sites in Virginia are already accessible to those in the state, the Hard Rock Bristol temporary casino will accept in-person wagers in July. Representatives have confirmed that a permanent site will open at some point in 2024 or 2025, but the Hard Rock Sportsbook will serve as its base of operations in the state until then.

Hard Rock Sportsbook in Bristol – History in the Making?

Hard Rock International was the eighth company to be awarded a license for legal, digital betting in Virginia.

However, the company — which is owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida — will become the very first outfit to have a commercial, land-based sportsbook inside state lines.

The company is set to inject upward of $300 million to transform the existing Bristol Mall into an all-encompassing casino resort. Included in the plans are a hotel, as well as gaming facilities, and the historic first legal betting space for walk-in gamblers.

While bettors will still be able to access the top betting apps, they now have the opportunity to have a flutter at Bristol Casino — Future Home of Hard Rock, from July 8 onward.

President of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Bristol, Allie Evangelista, expressed her excitement via a press release issued on Monday, May 16.

“We can’t wait to welcome sports fans from across the region to our retail sportsbook location in Bristol. The Hard Rock Sportsbook mobile app will be an extension of our Bristol property, allowing sports fans to continue their legendary entertainment experience throughout Virginia.”

The Full Scope of the Hard Rock Bristol Project

This is certainly an ambitious vision for the brand and one that will stimulate the local economy.

The temporary site alone will feature 30,000 square feet of casino and sports betting floor space. This includes 870 slots, 21 gaming tables, a restaurant, bars, and, of course, the sportsbook.

Two hotel towers will be built, as well as a 3,200-seat Hard Rock Live venue. Furthermore, fans can expect a 20,000-capacity outdoor entertainment complex with multiple commercial amenities. There will be thousands of jobs created, in both the construction, servicing, and maintenance of the complex.

It’s an exciting time to be a Virginia betting enthusiast. But those preferring to wager from the comfort of their own home can still do so via the top real money betting apps.
