  • Harrah’s New Orleans is set to welcome both a Caesars Sportsbook and World Series of Poker (WSOP) Room this Fall.
  • In 2019, Caesars Entertainment landed a 30-year licensing extension for its casino in NOLA.
  • The new WSOP poker room is expected to be a major hit in The Big Easy.

Just when you thought New Orleans couldn’t get any better.

Gambling giant Caesars has committed itself to a brand new $325 million project that will transform Harrah’s New Orleans into one of the most desirable gambling destinations in the United States. The company has confirmed that a brand-new sportsbook and dedicated World Series of Poker lounge will be ready to visit in NOLA by the fall of 2022.

Having paid a staggering amount of money to secure a three-decade-long licensing extension in 2019, Caesars is looking to do all within its power to make its Louisiana-based casino into one of the premier destinations in North America.

The company is believed to have forked out circa $325 million into the existing complex. Those looking for an alternative to the best sports betting sites in USA will have a brand-new brick-and-mortar complex awaiting their custom.

Gamblers can expect to find an all-purpose, 24-story tower with 340 guestrooms awaiting their arrival this Fall. Furthermore, the complex will be equipped to host World Series of Poker tournament games.

Here’s what we know about Harrah’s New Orleans expansion plans.

What’s Changing at Harrah’s New Orleans?

Caesars Entertainment has confirmed that Harrah’s New Orleans will welcome bettors into a revolutionary sportsbook and poker room this Fall.

This bespoke gambling area will cover 5,700 square feet, full-equipped with 12 self-service betting kiosks, a fully-manned counter, as well as a large, expansive video screen. Just about everything any sports bettor in The Big Easy could ask for.

Sports betting in Louisiana is a big deal. Especially with the state laying claim to some of the country’s most revered sports franchises. In addition to the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans are a significant source of pride in NOLA. With that said, punters will have access to betting odds for just about every major sporting event that matters in the US and beyond.

Caesars Entertainment’s regional president, Dan Real, was excited at the prospect of delivering a unique betting experience that he hopes will be the talk of the southern states.

“Caesars Sportsbook at Harrah’s New Orleans will be the foremost sports betting and viewing destination in the southern United States.”

Real believes that the new sportsbook will deliver “an unmatched game-day experience for Louisiana’s passionate sports fans and our many visitors to the area.”

With a name like that, who can disagree?

Caesar’s Expansion Plans are More Than Ambitious

Alongside the promise of a superb sportsbook experience, Harrah’s New Orleans will be the source for potential poker stars.

Those wondering how to win the World Series of Poker will have a chance to test the waters in an environment fitted out with all the mod cons. The existing poker room at the casino will be transformed into a space ready to host WSOP tournaments. Boasting dimensions exceeding 5,000 square feet, this will be the largest dedicated poker room in the state of Louisiana.

Harrah’s New Orleans’ poker room is being rebranded into a WSOP setting ideal for tournaments. The 5,000-square-foot space, which will feature 20 tables, will become the largest poker room in Louisiana. Samir Mowad, who acts as general manager of the casino, is taken by the potential of the project.

“The World Series of Poker brand represents the ultimate poker experience and it’s only fitting we open a poker room that matches its legacy. We’ll accomplish this by providing a best-in-class place for players to enjoy our games while generating a competitive buzz that builds camaraderie and creates a thrilling sense of victory for our winners.”

I sure can’t wait to see how Harrah’s transformation turns out. New Orleans is always a desirable destination, but I expect I’ll have even more of a spring in my step the next time I land at Louis Armstrong International.

Until my vacation comes around, I’ll have to do with playing online poker from the desktop at home. If you’re in the same boat, check out our recommended poker sites, below.

Oh, and good luck!
