Bryson DeChambeau vs. Brooks Koepka Odds
BetOnline wasted no time generating Bryson vs. Brooks odds. Just a few hours after the fifth edition of the Match was declared, BetOnline installed the line you see above.
Although we don’t know which 12 holes they’re playing yet or what the format consists of, we have to assume this “made for TV” event will feature plenty of drama. High-profile broadcasters Ernie Johnson Charles Barkley are rumored to be on the call, and don’t think Phil Mickelson is going to miss this action just because he’s not playing.
Lefty has been part of each of the first four iterations of the Match – expect to see Phil incorporated into #5 at some capacity.
Let’s take a closer look at the beef between Bryson and Brooks.
Previewing the DeChambeau vs. Koepka Match
We all saw the two hug it out at the Ryder Cup. Steve Stricker assured us the beef had been set aside and that the only thing had been blown up by the media’s agenda. But is that really the case?
This ongoing feud is approaching three years – the two have traded numerous barbs through social media accounts. Here are some cliff notes to help sort out how this rivalry was born.
- January 2019 – Koepka calls out DeChambeau publicly for playing too slow. “I just don’t understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, or a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball – it’s not that hard.”
- August 2019 – Bryson angrily walks up to Koepka’s caddie at THE NORTHERN TRUST and told him to tell his boss to make any comment about slow play “to my face.” Brooks and Bryson supposedly have a chat to “hash things out.”
- January 2020 – DeChambeau jabs Koepka’s abs upon the release of ESPN’s Body Issue. “I don’t think his genetics even make him look good. Did you see the Body Issue? He didn’t have any abs. I have abs”
- January 2020 – Koepka responds to DeChambeau’s shot at his abs with a nail in the coffin tweet.
As many thought this back and forth ribbing was mostly for entertainment, direct shots at one another offer a different perspective.
For example, when Bryson tweeted at Brooks “it’s nice to be living rent free in your head.”
And then came all of the “Brooksy” shouts. So much so that the PGA Tour had to issue a statement that any fans who called Bryson “Brooksy” would be kicked off the premises.
So yeah, I’d say there’s still plenty of animosity built up between this pair. Perhaps all the bickering reaches a breaking point the day after Thanksgiving.
