Dallas Mavericks’ Bettor Places $50k Wager on First NBA 0-3 Comeback

After last series comeback win against the Phoenix Suns, you can’t rule out the Dallas Mavericks. They dropped their first 3 games of the series against the Warriors and face a challenge that has never been complete before.

No NBA team has ever comeback from a 0-3 deficit, but that’s not going to keep the Mavericks from trying. The Golden State Warriors have been widely regarded as the favorite to win the NBA Finals and they’ve lived up to the hype so far.

They won the first two games at home in this series and snuck out a game in Dallas as well. The Mavericks were able to win Game 4, which has started their improbable journey of coming back 0-3.

There is at least one person who is convinced that the Dallas Mavericks can pull off the impossible. The unnamed bettor actually placed a few very large bets on the Mavericks recently.

The original bet was taken at Caesars’ sportsbook for $50,000 at 30-1 odds. That means the bet would cash into an absurd $1.5 million. Not only that, the same bettor placed a $10,000 bet on the Mavericks to win the NBA Finals at 75-1 odds ($750,000 payout).

There was also an astronomical bet placed on the Dallas Mavericks -1 spread in Game 4 worth $420,000. The Mavericks rewarded him by winning 119-109 (10 point margin). Will they be able to reward this other bettor who has much higher expectations?

In 2003, the Mavericks had a 3-0 series lead over the Portland Trail Blazers. They ended up winning Game 7, which saved the Mavs from being a laughing stock in the NBA.
