Hamish Blake Favored to Win Gold Logie at the 2022 Logie Awards

| June 17, 2022 6:08 am PDT

The 62nd edition of the Logie Awards takes place Sunday, June 19. This will be the first time there’s a ceremony since 2019.

For those who aren’t familiar, the Logie Awards is a celebration for Australian Television. The Awards will honor the best actors, actresses, series, new talent, etc. However, the biggest award of the night will be the Gold Logie.

The Gold Logie goes to the Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. BetUS has Hamish Blake as the clear favorite to win the award. Let’s talk about why he has the upper hand.

Why Will Hamish Blake Win the Gold Logie?

Hamish Blake opens as the favorite to win the 2022 Gold Logie. Blake came into the spotlight after forming a comedy duo with Andy Lee. The Hamish and Andy Show was on the radio from 2006 to 2017.

Blake is no stranger to the Logie Awards. He and Lee won three Logie Awards from 2012 to 2015. Take a look at their awards.

  • Most Popular Light Entertainment Program (2012)
  • Most Popular Light Entertainment Program (2014)
  • Most Popular Entertainment Program (2015)

Individually, Blake won the Gold Logie in 2012. He won Most Popular Presenter in 2013. Blake has the pedigree to win another Gold Logie, but can he recapture his 2012 glory?

He is the favorite to win the Gold Logie because of his role with Lego Masters. Blake has hosted the show since 2019. His comedic value gives him a strong chance to win his second Gold Logie.

Why Won’t Hamish Blake Win the Gold Logie?

The odds tell us Hamish Blake will win the 2022 Gold Logie, but he’s not a runaway favorite. Blake himself doesn’t believe he deserves a spot among the 2022 Gold Logie nominees. Will that hurt his chances of winning a second Gold Logie?

He’ll have plenty of competition with Sonia Kruger, Ray Meagher, and Melissa Leong. Kruger is the host of many shows, including Today Extra. They’ve been campaigning for her to take home the Gold Logie.

We haven’t seen as much campaigning from Blake. Honestly, I don’t believe we’ll see it in the closing days. Ray Meagher and Karl Stefanovich are among the top contenders who previously won the Gold Logie.

Stefanovich is the biggest longshot at (+1200), but he is the host of the Today Show and contributor for 60 Minutes. Can Blake overcome his competitors to win his second Gold Logie?

Other 2022 Logie Award Categories

The Gold Logie Award isn’t the only prestigious award up for grasp. Let’s quickly break down two of the biggest awards for the event.

Most Outstanding Actor

Richard Roxburgh opens with the best odds to win Most Outstanding Actor. He plays Duncan Simpson in the drama series Fires. The mini-series revolves around real-life situations of people battling wildfires.

Roxburgh’s character returns to his farm following a devastating fire. Roxburgh’s stunning performance has him in line to win Most Outstanding Actor.

Roxburgh has (+125) odds, but Jamie Dornan is right there with (+150) odds. Dornan plays “The Man” in The Tourist. His character suffers amnesia after a car accident. Dornan must put together the pieces of his life before his past catches up with him.

Sam Reid and Scott Ryan have (+425) odds, while Hugo Weaving is the longshot at (+600). Dornan should have a compelling case for The Tourist.

Outstanding Sports Coverage

You know we had to talk about the one sports award from the 2022 Logie Awards. The 2020 Olympics and Paralympics have (-175) odds of winning the award for Outstanding Sports Coverage.

It’s going to be tough for another nominee to take this award. Check out the winners for the Olympic coverage.

  • The Games of the XXVII Olympiad (2000)
  • Beijing Olympics (2009)
  • London 2012 Olympic Games
  • Rio 2016 Olympic Games

The 2004 Athens Olympics are the only time in the 21st century a Summer Olympics didn’t win the award. The Australian Open Women’s Final 2022 represents the biggest challenger at (+200). Can they complete the upset?
