2022 WPT World Championship to Feature Largest Guarantee in Live History

If you’re looking for an incentive to brush up on your skills, how does the chance of a share of a $15 million guaranteed prize pool sound? Too good to be true? Well, that’s exactly what players will be aiming to be playing for at the Wynn Las Vegas in December.

This unprecedented festival of poker is set to descend on the Strip this December. The first stages begin on the first of the month, with a marquee, showdown championship round that will be televised and streamed around the world. 

Included on the tournament’s schedule are upward of 12 tournaments which include three major events. They are the Prime Championship, the Wynn Mystery Bounty, and, of course, the World Championship.

Here’s what to expect from the 2022 WPT World Championship.

If the staggering prize money on offer hasn’t rendered you completely numb, it’s worth pointing out that there is more to this tournament than meets the eye.

But it is, admittedly, the crown jewel of this year’s championship. Providing there is no overlay, the WPT World Poker Tour will come with the largest $10,000 plus field buy-in outside of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). That is, of course, excluding $1m buy-ins.

An expected 1,500 entrees will light up this competition with several millionaires set to be made. Or, existing millionaires to have their respective bank balances enhanced.

Doesn’t sound too shabby.

A winner will be crowned on December 20, but there’s plenty more to play for before then. For example,  “Day 1” flights will be held from December 12 to 14, with numerous games happening from start to finish.

The US$2 million guaranteed Wynn Mystery Bounty goes down from December 16 to 19 December, with several cash prizes up for grabs. So, if you fancy yourself as something of the player, make sure to get involved where you can.

Failing that, there is always next year. If you’re not quite ready for the big leagues, perhaps the best poker players for beginners is the logical place to start.
