2019 Las Vegas Table Game Survey

Led by John Mehaffey, GamblingSites.com visits every Las Vegas casino at least once a year to conduct the annual Las Vegas Table Game Survey.

We note all the table games available on the property. We confirm the rules, including minimum and maximum bets, to make sure they still match previous visits. At the end of the year, we compile a detailed report.

All the data goes into spreadsheets. Every table game gets a tab. We list every casino that offers it with the limits.

If there are any special rules, like the number of zeros on a roulette wheel or odds on line bets at a craps table, we note that, too. Each game page breaks down the minimum bet by casino to make it easier for you to find the limits that best suit your action.

We then publish this data in easy to follow tables, broken down into various categories. John also writes a number of blog posts on specific topics, such the best Las Vegas blackjack games, new table games in Las Vegas, and interesting observations he makes during the Las Vegas Table Game Survey.

An annual survey of Las Vegas blackjack and other table games

With Las Vegas having more blackjack tables than any other city in the city in the world, we handle blackjack separately on its own page.

There are 24 table games in Las Vegas that are not related to blackjack. These range from tables available at most casinos, like craps and roulette, to more obscure games that hit Las Vegas casino floors this year, like Four Card Frenzy and Heads Up Hold’em.

We list all 24 Las Vegas table games below. We include details of where to play each one, the rules and minimum bets.

If you have any questions relating to our 2019 Las Vegas Table Game Survey, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Or you can reach out direct to John Mehaffey on Twitter.

Asia Poker

Asia Poker is a Pai Gow Poker variant. Like Pai Gow Poker, players receive seven cards and compete against the dealer. In Asia Poker, there are three hands to set instead of two. Players make a one-card, two-card and four-card hand. The player must win two or three of these to win the bet. The dealer wins ties, known as copies. This causes many of the one-card hands to go to the house.

Asia Poker is available at two Las Vegas casinos. Gold Coast spreads it for $10. Paris Las Vegas has it for $25.

Baccarat

Baccarat is the highest limit game offered by Las Vegas casinos. Some casinos accept bets into the tens of thousands of dollars on the game. Players may choose between betting on the banker or player hand. There is also a tie bet. Some tables offer various side bets.

Minimum bets vary widely throughout the Las Vegas gaming market at the 40 casinos that offer baccarat. Limits range from a $5 to $100 minimum.

The player and banker start with two cards. The goal is to get to the count of nine. Face cards and tens are worth zero points, while aces are worth one. All number cards are worth face value. The rules show whether the player or banker draw or a third card or stands pat.

Big Wheel

Big Wheel is a luck-based game. It has the highest house edge of any table game spread in Las Vegas. Most bets hold at least 10%. Some are over 20%. If you must play this game, we recommend choosing the video version where the house edge is less than half of the live game. You will also earn slot points on it.

Players make bets on the felt. The dealer spins the wheel. The number that it lands on win. The winning bet is multiplied by the winning number. The highest multiple is 50 times the bet. The higher the number, the less likely it is to hit.

The minimum bet is $1 at Cosmopolitan, New York New York, Stratosphere and The D. It goes up to $2 at Bellagio, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Golden Nugget, MGM Grand, Mirage, Planet Hollywood, Treasure Island and Wynn. For $3, you can play it at Aria.

Casino War

Casino War is identical to the game played by kids. One card is dealt to each player. If the player beats the dealer, the bet is paid. If the dealer beats the player, the bet loses. If there is a tie, the player may surrender half the bet or double it up to try to push the original bet in a war where new cards are dealt. If there are two ties, the player generally wins.

Craps

Craps is spread at 73 Las Vegas casinos. The game uses two dice. The main bets are the Pass Line and Don’t Pass. A Pass Line player hopes to roll a 7 or 11 at first. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 are rolled, the player must make this number again before rolling a 7 to win the Pass Line. A 2, 3 or 12 make the Pass Line lose on the first roll.

The Don’t Pass player wants the opposite of the Pass Line player. A 2 or 3 wins immediately. A 7 and 11 lose. A 12 pushes. Any other roll becomes the point. The Don’t Pass player wants a 7 to come before the point.

We have all the rules of Las Vegas craps on a dedicated page.

Crazy 4 Poker

Crazy 4 Poker is a moderately popular table game in Las Vegas. There are 23 casinos that offer it. The minimum bet is either $5 or $10, depending on the casino.

Crazy4Poker players receive five cards and discard one to make the best four-card hand. There is an ante and side bet. The player may raise up to three times the ante with at least a pair of aces. Any other hand may be raised an amount equal to the ante.

The dealer needs a king-high to qualify. The ante pushes if there is no qualifier. If the dealer qualifies, the ante plays with the raise. The dealer’s hand is compared to the dealer’s hand. If the player beats the dealer, the ante and raise are paid. If the dealer wins, the player loses both bets. In the event of a tie, both bets push.

Heads Up Hold’em

Heads Up Hold’em is like Ultimate Texas Hold’em with a bad beat bonus. Players are dealt two cards. There is a house hand. Players may raise three times the ante before the flop or check. After the flop, a player that checked may be two times the ante. If the player did not play before or after the flop, there is an option to bet an amount equal to the ante in the last round after the turn and river are exposed.

The dealer turns over the house’s two cards. If the dealer has less than a pair, the ante pushes. It plays with the raise if the dealer qualifies. If the player beats the dealer, the raise wins. If the dealer wins, the house takes the bets, except for bonus ones. However, if the player loses with a straight or better, a bad beat is paid.

High Card Flush

High Card Flush is a poker game that ignores all hands except flushes. The goal is to receive more cards of a suit than the dealer. Players receive seven cards after placing an ante. The dealer also receives seven cards. The player decides to play or fold. The play bet is equal to the ante. After that, the dealer shows the house hand.

The dealer needs at least a three-card nine-high flush to qualify. The ante pushes if the dealer does not make this hand. After that, the flush with the highest number of cards is determined in the player’s hand. It is compared to the dealer. The player wins if that hand is better than the dealer’s hand. The house wins if the dealer beats the player. There are side bets that play regardless of whether the player beats the dealer.

Let It Ride

Let It Ride is a poker game that involves the player trying to make a pair of tens or better. There is no house hand. Players make three equal bets. There are usually at least two optional side bets, including a jackpot for making a royal flush.

The player looks three cards dealt and decides whether to let a stack ride or pull it back. The player tucks cards under the bet if he or she has a winner already and would like to let all three bets ride. The dealer places a community card in the center and the player has the same opportunity. A second community card is exposed.

If the player makes a pair of tens or better, the hand is paid based on its strength. Each stack receives this payout. If the player does not have a pair of tens or better, the house wins all bets.

The minimum bet for Let It Ride is $5 at most Las Vegas casinos. New York New York has a video version of it on a bank of old Gamemaker machines near the front desk where the minimum bet is only a quarter.

There are several bets available at a Las Vegas Pai Gow Poker table. The main bet has a minimum of at least $5, depending on the casino. Side bets can often be made for $1 or $5.

The player and dealer start with seven cards. In traditional versions of the game, the player sets that hand before the dealer does. It is separated into a five-card and two-card hand. The five-card hand must be higher than the two-card one. The dealer then sets the banker hand.

If the player beats both dealer hands, the bet is paid, sometimes with a five percent commission. If the dealer wins both hands or wins one and ties one, the house wins. If the dealer ties one and loses one, the hand pushes. If the player and dealer split with one win each, the hand pushes. Some casinos permit players to bank once per round.

In Face Up Pai Gow Poker, the dealer sets the house hand first. If the dealer makes an ace-high pai gow, the hand pushes all around. If it does not, players set their hands based on the best way to beat the dealer’s exposed one. Players may not bank in Face Up Pai Gow.

Roulette

There are four types of roulette spread in Las Vegas. The most common involves two zeros on the wheel. Every casino with roulette has this version of it. There is also European Roulette offered at high limits. This game has one zero and la partage, which returns half the bet if the ball lands on zero. There is also single zero roulette and triple zero roulette. Triple zero roulette is the worst table game in Las Vegas, except for a few Big Wheel games.

We have a dedicated page for Las Vegas roulette, in addition to the details below.

Texas Hold’em Bonus

Texas Hold’em Bonus is a less popular version of Ultimate Texas Hold’em. It is spread at 11 Las Vegas casinos, most of which are owned by Caesars Entertainment.

The player starts by making an ante bet. There is an optional side bet. Some casinos have a progressive for a royal flush, too.

The player and dealer receive two cards. The player must play by raising the ante two times or fold. If the player continues, the flop of three cards is shown. The player must raise one times the ante or fold here. The turn is then dealt. The player must raise an amount equal to the ante or fold. A fifth card is then dealt in the center.

The player’s hand is then compared to the dealer’s hand, using five of the seven cards. If the dealer beats the player, the house takes all bets, except the bonus bet is still in play.

If the player beats the dealer, all bets pay even money, except the ante, which pushes in most cases. It wins even money if the player has a straight or higher. A tied hand pushes all bets.

Three Card Poker

Three Card Poker is spread at 62 Las Vegas casinos. The game starts with the player making an ante bet. There is also at least one side bet. The most common is Pair Plus, where the player wins on any hand with a pair or higher, even if it does not win. There may also be a progressive where the player wins the jackpot on a three-card royal flush.

Players and the dealer get dealt three cards. The player must raise or fold. If the player folds, the bets lose. If the player raises, the dealer shows the house hand. If the dealer beats the player, the ante and bet lose. If the player beats the dealer, these bets win. However, if the dealer does not make at least a queen-high, the ante pushes.

There is a bonus for the ante. It pays on a straight or better, even if the dealer beats the player.

Ultimate Texas Hold’em

Ultimate Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular poker table games in Las Vegas. There are 49 casinos that offer it. The minimum bet ranges from $5 to $15. This can be deceiving as players need two bets of this size to get dealt a hand and at least one more to call, though four times the bet is required to make a full raise before the flop. There are at least two optional side bets at most Ultimate Texas Hold’em tables.

Players start with two cards. The player may check or bet three or four times the ante. A player that raises here has no more action for the hand and should place their cards in front of the bet.

Three cards, known as the flop, are then shown. A player that did not raise before the flop can do so for two times the ante here. The dealer shows two more cards. If the player did not make a bet before or after the flop, an amount equal to the ante must be raised here or the player folds.

The dealer then shows the house hand. If the house does not have a pair, the ante pushes and is returned to the player. After that, the dealer’s hand is compared to the player’s hand. If the dealer beats the player, the blind loses, and the ante does too if the dealer qualified. If the player beats the dealer, the raise is paid, and the ante if the dealer qualified.

The blind bet pushes on most wins. It receives a bonus on a winning straight or better. It loses if the dealer beats the player.
