WWE Champions Who Might Lose at WrestleMania 2021

| April 1, 2021 8:13 am PDT

WrestleMania 37 is almost here and it’s going to be a two-day event once again. I expect to see more than 15 matches in total, with almost every single WWE belt on the line.

We will see a lot of title-holders surrender their honors during the biggest wrestling show. I share my thoughts on the WWE champions most likely to lose their titles at WrestleMania 37.

The list is based on the matches that were announced so far, the most recent storylines, the latest betting odds, and my own 2021 WrestleMania predictions.

Before we proceed, let me just mention the stats show 144 title fights in the history of WrestleMania so far and only 62 wins for the champion. The record is a clear indication that looking for title changes is a good strategy.

We have more useful stats in our WrestleMania betting guide, as well as tips on how to pick the best wagers for the show, so feel free to check it out.

Let’s see what the 2021 edition will bring us.

Title Fights at WrestleMania 37

Let’s begin with the list of WrestleMania 37 title fights that were already confirmed for the show.

Night 1 (April 10)
Champion Contender Title
Sasha Banks Bianca Belair WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bobby Lashley Drew McIntyre WWE Championship
The New Day AJ Styles and Omos WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
Night 2 (April 11)
Champion Contender(s) Title
Roman Reigns Edge; Daniel Bryan WWE Universal Championship
Asuka Rhea Ripley WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Big E Apollo Crews WWE Intercontinental Championship
Riddle Sheamus WWE United States Championship

As you can see, that’s a total of seven titles on the line during WrestleMania 37 and that’s what we know at the time I’m writing this article.

With more than ten days to go, I won’t be shocked to see more championship fights added to the mix.

If you want to check out the full list of WWE belts and the wrestlers holding them, you can visit the organization’s official website. I suspect that the 24/7 title currently held by R-Truth might change hands too, but more about that later.

Let’s move on to my predictions for WWE champions likely to lose their titles at WrestleMania 37.

Bobby Lashley – WWE Championship

I’m not entirely sure how we got to the point where Bobby Lashley holds the WWE Championship.

Drew McIntyre was in control of the belt and successfully defended it at the Elimination Chamber 2021 before The Miz, with the help of Lashley, attacked him to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

The duo then met in a Lumberjack match at the start of March and Lashley won the belt.

It was a weird sequence of events and I don’t think that the current champion will last for long.

There’s the sense that Drew McIntyre lost his belt after Lashley and The Miz cheated, so I expect to see retribution for the Scotsman.

It’s the most logical storyline and I expect him to beat Lashley on April 10. I’m surprised by the price of -130 for him to lift the title. In my opinion, that must be one of the best WrestleMania 37 bets available right now.

Asuka – WWE Raw Women’s Championship

Another champion that looks under threat at WrestleMania 37 is Asuka. The Japanese wrestler has been involved in pretty much every championship in the past six months or so, winning and losing belts left and right.

Asuka currently holds the WWE Raw Women’s Championship, but she was challenged to a title fight by Rhea Ripley on her first night as a champion.

Both signed contract, so the bout was added to the WrestleMania 37 card.

The contender’s recent trajectory suggests that WWE might give her the title after Ripley just joined Raw. That would boost the star’s stock even further and make her a major player for the brand.

There’s another important factor here. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler were also involved in the storyline between the reigning champ and Ripley, expressing disappointment that they are not considered for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

We might see some surprises during WrestleMania 37 and I’m pretty sure that Asuka won’t hold the belt when it’s all said and done.

R-Truth – WWE 24/7 Championship

Ever since the WWE 24/7 Championship belt was introduced in 2019, it has changed its owner more than 100 times.

Current holder R-Truth has won it 51 times and lost it 50 times alone which goes to show what a wild ride the last two years have been.

We saw the title go to Mojo Rawley and then Rob Gronkowski at WrestleMania 36, so it won’t be far-fetched to expect more of the same during the 37th edition of the Show of Shows.

WWE has to deliver enough action for two days, let’s not forget about that, so adding the 24/7 Championship to the mix makes a lot of sense. I believe that R-Truth will lose the belt, only to regain it in the very near future.

Roman Reigns – WWE Universal Championship

The triple threat match for the WWE Universal Championship on day 2 is one of the most anticipated fights at WrestleMania 37.

The current champion Roman Reigns will face Edge and Daniel Bryan in an attempt to defend his crown.

I can spend a lot of time talking about the adventures of the trio recently, but I think the main point here is that a win for Edge would complete his redemption ark.

The veteran was forced to retire in 2011 because of a neck injury and was even inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Nothing suggested that we will see him again, but Edge returned to reach the 2020 Royal Rumble final three.

He vowed to return stronger than ever and won the 2021 Royal Rumble.

After some back-and-forth with all of the WWE champions, Edge decided to use his right to challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37 and Daniel Bryan somehow got stuck in the middle of the feud too.

Edge’s whole storyline has been leading to a major title and winning the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37 would wrap it all together perfectly.

The price for him to come out on top is around +115 in most WWE betting sites and I believe that’s excellent value.

Final Thoughts

I believe these are the WWE champions most likely to lose their titles at WrestleMania 37, but I won’t be shocked if many other belts change their owners.

There are still question marks surrounding the show and yet, we know quite a bit too. Make sure to check my post on the five things we know about WrestleMania 37 so far to learn the important details about the Show of Shows in 2021.
