Dancing With the Stars Predictions Season 29

You know you’re in for a wild season of Dancing With the Stars when Carole Baskin is in the lineup.

She knows how to jam someone up, but can she dance?

The Tiger King star is one of the many big names gracing the stage for Dancing With the Stars season 29, and you’ll be able to bet on whether or not she wins.

Season 29 hits the dance floor on September 14th with Tyra Banks taking over as the new host. Some veteran dancers take the stage, led by Val Chmerkovsky (16th season), as well as 15 new contestants all competing for the top prize.

Who will win season 29 of Dancing With the Stars? Let’s find out as I take a look at the latest odds and come to my Dancing With the Stars predictions for season 29.

Dancing With the Stars Season 29 Odds

This is a pretty star-studded celebrity cast, led by the tentative favorite in American figure skater Johnny Weir. He’s followed closely behind by Backstreet Boys legend AJ McLean, who is a fun guy to root for as he tries to stay sober.

McLean is going to be a fan favorite, regardless, while his years of choreography and dancing with his band could give him the edge he needs in this competition.

Those are the top two favorites at BetOnline and other entertainment betting sites, but as you can see via the Dancing With the Stars odds above, it’s hard to separate the celebrities this season.

Is Weir the true favorite? Is McLean his main threat? Let’s take a look at who you should bet on to win Dancing With the Stars by breaking down the top contenders and some sneaky sleepers.

Top DWTS Contenders

  • Johnny Weir
  • AJ McLean
  • Nelly

This is just one writer’s opinion, but when looking at the latest Dancing With the Stars odds, and the abilities of these celebrities, these three options stand out as the biggest threats.

That isn’t to say some of the other top contenders can’t stake their claim to the DWTS throne, but they’ll have to prove themselves before I buy-in.

For now, the best bets to win season 29 of Dancing With the Stars figure to be Weir, McLean, and Nelly.

McLean is an easy pick to contend for first place. He has popularity among voters, he has a compelling narrative, and he has dancing in his background.

Weir is poetry in motion as a figure skater, and the competition has seen a figure skater win before (Adam Rippon in season 26), so he makes sense as the favorite.

Let’s not ignore Nelly, either.

Mostly known for his music, the famous rapper has proven to be quite the versatile performer during his career, and at one time was an elite athlete and two-sport star.

All three of these contestants have the talent to be a force this season. The only question is if they’re worth their current price, or if there is more value to pursue.

Dancing With the Stars Sleepers

  • Jesse Metcalfe
  • Kaitlyn Bristowe
  • Vernon Davis

You have your favorites, your contenders that are next in line (and there’s a few), and then you have your Dancing With the Stars sleepers.

Whether they’re just appealing value bets, or legit contenders that feel mispriced, I think all three of these celebrities have an argument.

It starts with Metcalfe, who has always been seen as an athletic actor in Hollywood, and was a talented basketball player in his youth. A fan favorite thanks to his roles on Desperate Housewives, Passions, and Dallas, Metcalfe could develop a following in season 29.

Someone I like even more that offers nice betting value is Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Best known for her time on The Bachelor, she sets her sights on the DWTS trophy one year after another Bachelor alum (Hannah Brown) took home top honors.

Bristowe may have the goods to get it done, too. The 35-year old previously taught a spin class in her pre-reality TV career, and is the daughter of a ballerina. She also received a dance scholarship prior to teaching her own class, so the pedigree and training is all there to give her a sizable boost.

Don’t sleep on Vernon Davis, either. Pro athletes tend to do very well on Dancing With the Stars due to the requirement of elite athleticism, mobility, precision, and timing.

Davis was about as athletic as tight ends come in pro football, and his speed, quickness, and strength could easily end up translating to the dance floor.

Given the fact that NFL greats like Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, and Donald Driver have all claimed the top prize on DWTS, we can’t look past Davis too quickly.

Who Will Win Dancing With the Stars Season 29?

Okay, so who is actually winning this thing? Well, last year I pegged Ally Brooke as the winner, and she finished third. Back in season 25 I loved Lindsey Sterling as the winner, and she finished second.

Could this be the year where I finally correctly pick the winner of Dancing With the Stars? Probably not, but this is still a fun show to bet on, and there’s plenty of value to get excited about.

In all seriousness, I’m aiming high and going with Bristowe. She’s got a following from already being in ABC programming, she’s fit enough to compete, and she has quite the background in dancing.

You have the favorites to consider, but all things considered, Bristowe and her +1200 odds are too good to pass up.

This season is going to have all types of changes, from Tyra Banks taking over as host, to the voting process, and also the impact of the global pandemic on the production.

Early on, I don’t see much point in betting on a favorite. Let’s get some value back, aim high, and go with someone literally built to take down this competition.
