Which NBA Team Will Sign Danilo Gallinari?

Danilo Gallinari has paid his dues. The 12-year vet has accomplished a lot in this game, although he’s never advanced in the postseason. That’s right – winning a playoff series is uncharted territory for the 32-year-old hybrid forward.

Perhaps that changes in 2021.

It seems rather unlikely that Danilo is retained by the Thunder, and we can expect plenty of suitors to be clamoring for his services. With that in mind, let’s examine which teams could sign Danilo Gallinari?

The Heat make a ton of sense – especially if Jae Crowder ends up bolting in free agency. Gallinari profiles as a bulkier version of Duncan Robinson who could slide right into Erik Spoelstra’s starting five.

A door could certainly open in Phoenix if Kelly Oubre Jr. gets traded, but don’t expect a team like New York or New Orleans to come into play. The Italian sharpshooter has made it clear he wants to play for a contender in the upcoming season. No more rebuilds, no more being part of a long-term project.

Expect Gallinari to take less money if it means having a genuine opportunity to compete for a title.

If you’re looking to make a few bucks, slamming a bet in on “no” is loaded with merit. Forget the hearsay, and forget the rumors, take it from the horse’s mouth.

OKC just promoted Mark Daigneault to be their next head coach and seems destined to among the Western Conference teams fighting for a playoff spot in 2020-21. All signs are pointing toward Danilo not being part of the future plans.

Gallinari might be considered a role player at this stage of his career, but here’s a guy who averaged 18.7 ppg and shot over 40% from beyond the arc this past season. In 2018-19, Danilo registered 19.8 ppg on 43.3% three-point shooting.

As far as who will sign Danilo Gallinari, Milwaukee and Toronto are logical landing spots. Reuniting with Denver where he played for seven seasons could be on the table as well.

And while Miami is currently the favorite among the teams that could sign Danilo Gallinari, I’m pegging the Mavericks to come swooping in at the eleventh hour.
