NBA Draft Odds for 2020

The countdown to the 2020 NBA Draft has officially begun. We are mere days away from finding out where the top prospects get selected, seeing which teams make major trades, and gauging how the draft might impact the 2020-21 NBA season.

This is one of the most unpredictable drafts in recent memory. Going down in November during a global pandemic only compounds the insanity of it all.

All 30 NBA teams are trying to get better, however, and with the 220 NBA Draft, you can make your pocketbook a bit thicker, too.

That’s right, if you weren’t aware, you can bet on the NBA Draft, and if you do it right, you can potentially make quite a bit of money doing so. One of the best ways, of course, is to identify the best odds that might be worth pouncing on.

To showcase that, I’m breaking down the top 2020 NBA Draft prop bets, and comparing the pricing across some of the best sites for betting on the NBA Draft. I’ll also break down each prop a bit, but it’ll be up to you to decide where to bet.

Odds for #1 Pick in the Draft

Player MyBookie.ag Bovada BetOnline
LaMelo Ball -130 -180 -175
Anthony Edwards +120 +140 +125
James Wiseman +600 +550 +600
Deni Avdija +5000 +4000 +2500
Obi Toppin +5000 +5000 +4000

Predicting who will go first in the 2020 NBA Draft is the big question out there. It’s the top NBA Draft prop bet, and should be the easiest to score value from.

The only problem is this isn’t like past years, where the favorite to go first overall was pretty obvious. Of course, that’s a good thing for anyone wanting to bet on who will be the top pick, as it keeps the door open to good pricing.

LaMelo Ball is now the consensus favorite to be the first pick in the draft.

The odds for the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft can and will change over the coming days, but this is a guy who is also seen by many as the top overall prospect.

If that’s the case, we can look at this pricing and probably assume Ball will be the top pick. In buying that, you can still just about double your money at MyBookie. Ball just needs to be the first player drafted, of course.

Anthony Edwards has long been his main threat, and you can get a +140 price at Bovada. James Wiseman was once thought to be a real threat, and suddenly his +600 odds to go first overall are very alluring.

It’s looking like it’s mostly a two dog race, though. Now you need to figure out who wins it, and where you’ll be betting on this prop.

Odds for Number of International Players in Top 10

Number of Players Drafted MyBookie Bovada BetOnline
Over 3.5 +350 +365 +400
Under 3.5 -600 -630 -700

Another popular 2020 NBA Draft prop is how many international players will be selected inside the top-10. As you can see above, the odds favor under 3.5 international prospects going well inside the lottery this year.

I do think clarification is needed here, as guys like LaMelo Ball and RJ Hampton are technically overseas products as far as the draft is concerned. But for this prop, we probably have to assume they don’t count, seeing as they were born in the United States.

It might not matter, since Hampton no longer looks like a real threat to go in the top half of round one. With or without Ball, you’ll have a tough time convincing yourself that there are four international players that feel like anything close to a lock to be picked in the top-10.

That said, Deni Avdija and Killian Hayes are very good bets to be among the first 10 selections. If Ball counts as an international player, you have three right there. You just need one more to attack this fun +400 price tag at BetOnline.

Could RJ Hampton or Theo Maledon make the cut? It’s possible. Would it be that shocking if Leandro Bolmaro or Aleksej Pokusevski were snagged inside the first 10 picks? Honestly, not really.

I mean, the Kings once drafted Georgios Papagiannis 13th overall.

Yeah, that actually happened.

We can dream, folks, and that’s precisely why attacking the Over in this spot isn’t so crazy.

If you’re going to do it, BetOnline is the top spot to do so for the moment. If not, the best price you’re getting is -600, which probably would make this a bet to avoid.

Odds for Number of Freshmen Take Inside Top 10

Number of Freshmen Drafted MyBookie Bovada BetOnline
Over 4.5 +215 +185 N/A
Under 4.5 -275 -280 N/A

BetOnline does not have live odds for the number of Freshmen at the time of this writing, but they tend to be among the leaders in NBA Draft props.

In your search for the best value and all of the wagers for the 2020 NBA Draft, I’m sure you’ll find something concerning this prop there eventually.

We still have two sites to compare here, and it’s clear MyBookie is the better spot in terms of raw value from either side of this bet. So, which way should you bet?

Just consider the top prospects. Anthony Edwards is a threat to go #1 overall, which makes him a lock. James Wiseman and Onyeka Okongwu also feel like really good bets to go inside the top-10, if not the top-5.

That gives us three guys we can comfortably assume are helping us get to the Over. But you need two more. LaMelo Ball, Killian Hayes, Deni Avdija, and Obi Toppin are all extremely good bets to stay inside the first 10 picks, and none are Freshmen.

Getting two more Freshmen out of three possible remaining picks feels like a dicey proposition. It’s not impossible, though. Isaac Okoro, Cole Anthony, and Patrick Williams are three more very viable options, and you could even talk up guys like Precious Achiuwa and Tyrese Maxey.

I’d probably lean toward the Under just because of the presence of several quality Sophomores and some interesting international prospects, but you could argue it either way. If you bet on this prop, though, MyBookie looks to be your first stop.

Odds for Number of ACC Players Drafted in 1st Round

Number of ACC Players Drafted MyBookie Bovada BetOnline
Over 5.5 +250 +400 +250
Under 5.5 -400 -700 -400

I won’t break down every college conference, but you can tackle this same type of prop concerning the likes of the Big 10, SEC, and others.

The ACC is just arguably the best conference in college basketball, and a nice 5.5 total is a good place to set up shop. At first glance, none of the top NBA Draft sportsbooks have it likely that we see six ACC players go in round one, though.

The nice thing about this bet is that you have 30 picks to work with. That’s a lot of wiggle room.

If you digest player rankings, mock drafts, scouting reports, and the latest buzz, we can probably all agree that Patrick Williams, Devin Vassell, Cole Anthony, and Vernon Carey are all probably going in the first round.

Four players is a pretty nice head start. Once you factor in first-round hopefuls like Elijah Hughes, Cassius Stanley, Tre Jones, Jordan Nwora, and others, the Over gets interesting in a hurry.

I still tend to lean toward the Under, but the value is impossible to ignore. With this specific bet, Bovada is the clear leader for the Over, while BetOnline and MyBookie offer solid bang for your buck to go with the “safer” Under.

Summary

I avoided wagers that weren’t being actively offered at most of the best NBA Draft sportsbooks. I also went with the top sportsbooks that are consistently offering said wagers.

That really brings us to MyBookie, Bovada, and BetOnline, for the most part. Are there other online betting sites that host 2020 NBA Draft props? Absolutely, and I encourage you to shop around beyond just digesting this post.

The main point is that the props and odds are going to differ across even the best sites. That makes it pretty important to have more than one “go to” site you can trust and rely on.

It’s up to you which sites those are, but at least now you have an idea as to which sites offer which odds for some of the biggest draft props this year.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our 2020 NBA Draft betting coverage, of course. For plenty more, hit the links below.
