The Pushka League Division 1 Playoffs begin today and I can’t wait! We will have the chance to watch some of the top Dota 2 teams in Europe and CIS face each other. The schedule for Friday features a couple of interesting games, but I decided to go for the one between Virtus.pro and Team Liquid.

Both sides had a lot of trouble in the group stage but look much stronger recently. Considering the level of talent at their disposal, going all the way won’t be a shocker. They have to go through the quarterfinals first, though.

The start of the Pushka League was shaky for Virtus.pro. The team lost two matches in a row and looked off the pace, but the recovery was quick. The squad won four in succession to secure the second place in group CIS and a spot in the playoffs.

Virtus.pro looks ready for the knockouts and the team has adjusted to the latest Dota 2 changes well after some initial struggles. That’s bad news for the rest of the field, as the Russians can beat anyone when they are at their best.

The fate of Team Liquid so far has been identical to their next opponent. The start was slow and the matches against NiP and Alliance were lost early on but the squad recovered to win the next four encounters and finished third in group Europe.

Unfortunately for Liquid, the first opponent in the knockouts is arguably one of the toughest possible. And yet, the side looks extremely comfortably after the latest patch and hasn’t lost a competitive game since its release, so the guys should be confident even against Virtus.pro.

I believe this one is too hard to call, so my prediction is that we will see three games. The Russian should be able to edge their opponent, but Liquid will be ready to fight. All things considered, the price of +103 for over 2.5 rounds looks like the best betting pick.
