Top Picks for NBA DFS on Thursday, April 8 (2021)

| April 8, 2021 7:33 am PDT

Thursday’s daily fantasy basketball slate is immediately easy to survey. Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as doubtful, instantly making the Milwaukee Bucks the top team to target.

You’ll still want to pay attention to price changes at the top NBA betting sites – as well as any other player news – but that’s a great place to start with your NBA DFS lineups.

For the top NBA DFS picks and sleepers to consider for April 8th, let’s dive into today’s daily fantasy basketball preview.

Top NBA DFS Picks for April 8th

  • Jrue Holiday, PG, Bucks ($8.1k)
  • Khris Middleton, SG, Bucks ($7.8k)
  • Luka Doncic, SF, Mavericks ($10.9k)
  • Pascal Siakam, PF, Raptors ($8.5k)
  • Nikola Vucevic, C, Bulls ($9.1k)

Thursday’s NBA DFS picks start and end with the Bucks, as Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to miss his second straight game.

You do not need a big sales pitch here. Jrue Holiday has had some huge games with The Greek Freak sidelined, and both he and Khris Middleton get big bumps with the extra workload.

Those guys are cash game locks, and it might be getting too cute to fade them at all.

The one good thing about everyone being on the Bucks? It’s possible you could get Luka Doncic at lower ownership. My hope is to get them all in there if it doesn’t look too ugly, of course.

Siakam is very tough to trust, as Toronto has been bad in the second half of the year. The Raptors are without their top two guards, however, so he’s a viable spend.

Lastly, there’s Vuc, who popped off for 63 fantasy points the last time I vouched for him. He has a nice floor and solid upside, and Toronto isn’t scaring anyone defensively right now.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Sleepers for Thursday

  • Malachi Flynn, PG, Raptors ($4.7k)
  • Kenrich Williams, SG, Thunder ($5.2k)
  • Deandre’ Bembry, SF, Raptors ($3.8k)
  • Bobby Portis, PF, Bucks ($5.3k)
  • Isaiah Stewart, C, Pistons ($4.1k)

Those Toronto guards are still out, so yes, as gross as it feels, you can keep playing the Raptors spares. Malachi Flynn isn’t starting (he probably should), but he’s still getting it done with 33+ fantasy points in each of his last three contests.

Bembry is a little more volatile, but he is starting, and he’s cleared 31+ fantasy points in his last two games, as well.

These guys (along with Bucks) will be chalky, but it could be the type of high ownership plays we just have to roster.

The same goes for Portis, who usually starts with Giannis takes a breather. He’s a great play at his price tag.

Stewart stands out as a solid NBA DFS sleeper, too. Detroit is going to turn to him a little more than usual, as top scorer Jerami Grant is out for this one.

He does not play the four, but Stewart was already eating in Mason Plumlee’s minutes, and they’re facing the Kings. I love this play, especially if people gravitate more toward Ivica Zubac or Brook Lopez.

Best NBA DFS Lineup for April 8th, 2021

  • PG: Malachi Flynn – Raptors ($4.7k)
  • SG: Khris Middleton – Bucks ($7.8k)
  • SF: Deandre’ Bembry – Raptors ($3.8k)
  • PF: Bobby Portis – Bucks ($5.3k)
  • C: Isaiah Stewart – Pistons ($4.1k)
  • G: Jrue Holiday – Bucks ($8.1k)
  • F: Luka Doncic – Mavericks ($10.9k)
  • UTIL: Theo Maledon – Thunder ($5.3k)

I think the core of your daily fantasy basketball lineups feels pretty obvious, and that should be okay. With the Raptors guys and Giannis out, you can start with Toronto and Milwaukee plays.

For me, that means I am locking in Flynn, Bembry, Jrue, Middleton, and Portis. Unless some of those guys sit or lineups change drastically, that’s my core.

You can get different elsewhere, as the next decision is whether you pay for Doncic or not. If he’s mega chalk, I might get weird and get off of him, but the Mavs did play last night, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kristaps Porzingis rest.

Stewart and Maledon are fine values, but I’m not married to them. Really, they are placeholders right now, and if things don’t get crazy, I’m fine with landing on them in my final NBA DFS lineups.

A lot can change before lock, so be sure to keep up to date with all the news and changing odds. Beyond that, hopefully this look at my favorite NBA DFS picks, sleepers, and top lineup helps you tonight.
