Top NFL Games to Bet on in Week 3 of the 2021 Season
Last week, three of my five top five games in my top NFL games to bet on featured thrilling finishes.
The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams won on a late game-winning field, while the game of the week between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens lived up to the hype.
Can Week 3 continue the hype train? Let’s look ahead to the top NFL games to bet on for week three.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-1) -115
- Los Angeles Rams (+1) -105
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Win (-105)
- Los Angeles Rams to Win (-115)
- Over 54.5 (-110)
- Under 54.5 (-110)
We have a potential NFC Championship Game preview as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Los Angeles Rams.
Each team has had a very impressive start to the 2021 season.
Tampa Bay looks even better than the team that won the Super Bowl last season. With their 48-25 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, the Buccaneers have now won nine consecutive games. They have scored at least 30 points in all nine games.
Los Angeles backed up a dominant Week 1 victory with an impressive performance against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Rams faced some adversity early in the fourth quarter, but they responded to win 27-24. When teamed up with Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp looked unstoppable.
- 9 receptions
- 163 yards
- 2 touchdowns
It’s still early in the season but Tampa Bay and Los Angeles look like the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Why are they the favorites? Because they are dominant on both sides of the ball.
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay offense is on fire right now. Through two games, they are averaging 39.5 points. Brady leads the NFL with nine passing touchdowns, while Rob Gronkowski has a league-high four receiving touchdowns.
Their elite defense has four interceptions this season, including a pair of pick-sixes last week.
Los Angeles’ offense looks as good as ever with Stafford in charge. He has five touchdowns and one interception through two weeks. His passer rating and QBR rank in the top four.
Jalen Ramsey came up with a clutch interception last week for the Rams defense.
This is going to be a fascinating matchup between two of the best teams in the NFL. We know it’ll be a battle of two elite offenses but I want to see which defense steps up.
Who makes a big play when it matters most?
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
- Los Angeles Chargers (+6.5) -110
- Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5) -110
- Los Angeles Chargers to Win (+260)
- Kansas City Chiefs to Win (-335)
- Over 55.5 (-110)
- Under 55.5 (-110)
If it wasn’t for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs would have the game of the week for the third time in three weeks.
Both the Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers are coming off heartbreaking losses in Week 2.
Kansas City led nearly the entire game against the Baltimore Ravens. They were down one with under two minutes remaining. While in field goal range, Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumbled, giving the Ravens the ball.
Baltimore outscored Kansas City 12-0 in the fourth quarter in Baltimore’s 36-35 victory.
Los Angeles faced off with the Dallas Cowboys in a game that was much lower scoring than expected. Justin Herbert made great throws all game, but penalties doomed the Chargers hopes.

Dallas kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to pick up their first win of the season.
Now, both the Chargers and Chiefs will look for a bounce-back victory in this AFC West clash.
Last season, we saw the Chargers give the Chiefs all they could handle in Justin Herbert’s first career start. Los Angeles led the majority of the game, but the Chiefs went on to win in overtime.
There’s no other way to put it, but the Chiefs defense looks terrible right now. They have allowed the most total yards and rushing yards this season. They have allowed 29 and 36 points, respectively, in their first two games. Obviously, they have an amazing offense but they need their defense to step up.
Herbert is off to a great start but the Chargers red zone offense is letting them down. They have just two touchdowns on six red zone trips.
If they can’t cash in, in the red zone, the Chiefs will run away with this game.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
- Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) -115
- Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) -105
- Philadelphia Eagles to Win (+165)
- Dallas Cowboys to Win (-195)
- Over 51.5 (-110)
- Under 51.5 (-110)
Who doesn’t want to watch a clash between two NFC East rivals?
Following a down 2020 season, both the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are off to good starts this season.
Philadelphia dominated both sides of the ball in their Week 1 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. They hung around with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, but their offense struggled in a 17-11 loss.
Dallas lost in Week 1 on a last-second field goal. This week, they went to Los Angeles and defeated the Chargers in the same manner they lost in week one.
The win has the Cowboys feeling confident about their playoff hopes.
Coming into this matchup, Dallas looks like the better team. But when it comes to these two teams, you can throw that out of the window. It’s going to come down to which team wants it more.
That may make it tough on bettors but I see it as an opportunity to find some value.
Early in the season, we’ve seen the Cowboys offense and Eagles defense have success. After passing for over 400 yards in Week 1, Dallas leaned on their ground game last week.

Philadelphia has a top-five pass defense, but they rank mid-pack in run defense. That may be a tell in which direction the Cowboys go with their game plan.
As a bettor, I’d look at the Eagles offense vs. the Cowboys defense.
The Eagles looked great in Week 1 but they couldn’t do much against the 49ers. Dallas only allowed 17 points to the Chargers but the Chargers shot themselves in the foot with penalties. Los Angeles also went 1-4 in the red zone.
These two teams typically play each other close. One big play from either team will likely make the difference.
Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers
- Green Bay Packers (+4) -110
- San Francisco 49ers (-4) -110
- Green Bay Packers to Win (+180)
- San Francisco 49ers to Win (-220)
- Over 48.5 (-110)
- Under 48.5 (-110)
It’ll be a rematch of the 2020 NFC Championship Game when the Green Bay Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Green Bay’s Week 1 performance was extremely disappointing. They showed no signs of life in a 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints. The loss only looks worse after the Saints lost big to the Carolina Panthers.
Of course, Green Bay got back on track by thumping the Lions on Monday Night Football.
San Francisco’s offense had its way against the Lions in Week 1. They had a much tougher matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 49ers offense struggled but their defense held Philadelphia to 11 points. Now, they’ll look to move to 3-0 this week in San Francisco.
I think this will be a big test for Green Bay on both sides of the ball. Detroit doesn’t have a good defense, but the 49ers defense will present a much stiffer challenge.
They did allow 33 points in Week 1 but a lot of that came in garbage time. San Francisco held the Lions to 17 points through the first 58 minutes of the game.
I see an opportunity to make some money with this matchup. San Francisco may be the favorite right now but I think the line will move over the week.
On paper, the Packers are the better team. If they play up to their potential, they should win this game outright.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Minnesota Vikings
- Seattle Seahawks (-1) -115
- Minnesota Vikings (+1) -105
- Seattle Seahawks to Win (-125)
- Minnesota Vikings to Win (+105)
- Over 55 (-110)
- Under 55 (-110)
There are a lot of good matchups in Week 3 but I think this one has the potential to be the best.
The Seattle Seahawks looked like they were going to back up their Week 1 performance with another victory over an AFC South team. Unfortunately, they blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, losing to the Tennessee Titans in overtime.
It was a back-and-forth affair between the Vikings and Arizona Cardinals. There were multiple lead changes throughout the game, with Arizona taking a one-point lead with just over four minutes remaining.
Minnesota went down the field and put themselves in position to kick the game-winning field goal. Unfortunately, Greg Joseph missed the potential game-winner from 37 yards.
This week, both the Seahawks and Vikings will look for a bounce-back performance in what could be a shootout.
Right now, this matchup has the second-highest over/under projection of the week. You can check out every over/under on the top NFL betting sites.
Each team has many weapons on offense, especially in the passing game.
Through two weeks, Tyler Lockett ranks second in the NFL with 278 receiving yards. On the other side, Adam Thielen ranks top five in receptions and touchdowns.
From a betting standpoint, I want to see how the Seahawks run defense bounces back. Derrick Henry had his way in Week 2.
- 35 carries
- 182 yards
- 3 touchdowns
They have another tough matchup against Dalvin Cook. If their run defense doesn’t show up, we could have an upset on our hands.
We know both passing offenses will be on full display. So, which defense will step up?
Both teams had a good chance to win last season but couldn’t finish the job. Who will do that this week?
What to Watch for During Week 3 in the NFL
In Week 3, we have quite a few matchups between teams with not only playoff aspirations, but Super Bowl aspirations.
I think this is a chance for teams like the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers to show they are a true Super Bowl threat.
