Top Games to Bet on in Serie A on Match Day Seven (2021)

| September 29, 2021 11:33 am PDT

There is another international break immediately after this weekend’s round of fixtures in Serie A, so some of the players will manage to get a well-earned rest after last week’s double game action.

The very best will be turning out for their national sides, of course, but there might be some respite from the grueling schedule.

Some clubs will be quite happy to take a break from the league campaign, to regroup and plan for a push before Christmas. But others, such as Napoli, would probably rather carry on playing, considering the fine form Luciano Spalletti’s side has shown this season.

It is another full set of fixtures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week and I’ve picked out four games that should be considered when it comes to betting on Serie A on match day seven.

Torino vs. Juventus

Torino to Win+320
The Draw+250
Juventus to Win-105

It is very rare, even at such an early stage of the season, that Torino finds itself higher up in the table than Juventus. But that is the case this week as the Turin clubs prepare for the Derby della Mole.

Both sides have won just two of their opening six games, with the Granata enjoying a slightly better goal difference than its more successful neighbors.

Torino has had to make do without top striker Andrea Belotti since August and he could miss out on this one as well.

Ivan Juric’s side has actually improved in his absence and might have beaten Venezia on Monday if it wasn’t reduced to ten men for the last quarter of an hour.

Derby della Mole Results Since Torino’s Last Victory (2015)
Season Team Score Team
2020/21 Torino 2-2 Juventus
Juventus 2-1 Torino
2019/20 Juventus 4-1 Torino
Torino 0-1 Juventus
2018/19 Torino 1-1 Juventus
Juventus 1-0 Torino
2017/18 Torino 0-1 Juventus
Juventus 2-0 Torino
Juventus 4-0 Torino
2016/17 Juventus 1-1 Torino
Torino 1-3 Juventus
2015/16 Torino 1-4 Juventus
Juventus 4-0 Torino
Juventus 2-1 Torino

Juventus has been in all sorts of trouble this season and could do with a positive result in its Champions League fixture to raise some confidence ahead of this local derby.

The Old Lady has only lost one Turin derby since 1995, but last season’s home game for Torino was drawn and the form of both teams makes this an intriguing match up.

Bologna vs. Lazio

Bologna to Win+226
The Draw+280
Lazio to Win+115

Lazio had looked a little rudderless before last weekend’s Derby della Capitale against Roma. But there is nothing like a bitter rivalry to get the fans and players going – and the Biancocelesti came out guns blazing, eventually beating Jose Mourinho’s side 3-2.

The big question will be whether that performance was a one off or not.

Maurizio Sarri still seems like a curious fit with the way Lazio has been set out to play in recent seasons and the victory over Roma was more in spite of his tactics than because of them.

The Lazio players were pumped up to beat Roma, but will they be quite as determined to take on Bologna with the international break looming?

Bologna, for its part, has been very interesting to watch this season. The club recruited well in the offseason and Sinisa Mihajlovic now has a squad that might be able to escape the relegation scrap it has been involved in for the last few years.

This is not an easy game for the Rossoblu, but I have a feeling that a lot of Lazio’s attention recently has been on the local derby and another Europa League game this Thursday.

Fiorentina vs. Napoli

Fiorentina to Win+320
The Draw+270
Napoli to Win-112

There is an argument to be made that this game is the big one this weekend in Serie A. Atalanta faces Milan and there is the Turin derby – but for two sides seemingly at the top of their game, this is hard to beat.

That’s good news for both clubs, obviously. But Fiorentina’s improvement has been a little more dramatic this season.

Much of that is down to new boss Italiano Vincenzo. He was able to keep tiny Spezia up last season and he has now been given the chance to revitalize Fiorentina’s fortunes and live up to the expectations owner Rocco Commisso has of the club.

There have been four wins in six Serie A games for the Viola, but there was an element of luck in the victory over Udinese last time out.

As good as Fiorentina has been, it has already lost to Roma and Inter, and Sunday’s game is the biggest test yet.

Napoli has really meant business this season so far and goes into the weekend at the top of Serie A. Victor Osimhen has been in electric form up front and Spalletti’s side has the best defensive record in the league after six games.

This could turn out to be a classic.

Atalanta vs. Milan

Atalanta to Win+110
The Draw+270
Milan to Win+245

The final game of match day seven is another one of the top games this weekend, as Milan travels to Bergamo to take on Atalanta.

The home side has been the better of the two in recent years, but the Rossoneri has pushed on from last season’s overachievement and looks more like the Champions League club of old again.

Atalanta has been a little slower to get things going this season and has been unable to score goals at the same electrifying rate as yet.

There have been some disappointing results for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side but the draw against champions Inter last time out should work as an incentive to get things back on track for another top four finish.

Milan could be fired up after what it would consider the injustice of its first Champions League game for seven years on Tuesday.

Stefano Pioli thought that the referee was the main reason why his side lost to Atletico Madrid, after having Franck Kessie sent off in the first half and conceding a very dubious penalty in the last minute of the game.

Milan is still to lose in Serie A this season and will want to go into the international break on a high.

Betting on Serie A This Weekend

Serie A has been one of the most exciting leagues in Europe so far this season and there are more than a few games to choose from this weekend to keep that feeling going.

The scudetto race seems more intense because of the openness and that has made betting on individual games even more interesting.

I’ll be back taking a look at the big stories in Italy at the start of next week before Serie A takes a short break for the international fixtures, returning on Saturday October 16.
