Top Eight UFC Fights You Can Bet on in August 2021

| August 2, 2021 8:23 am PDT

We got some big UFC fights to bet on this August 2021.

But unfortunately, Amanda Nunes will not feature in her fight against Julianna Penna, having withdrawn on July 29.

Still, the MMA fight calendar for August is looking healthy.

If you’re hoping to make money with your UFC bets this August, I have you covered. For a start, we have UFC 265 to look forward to. Now Nunes is off the card, which means a mammoth heavyweight title eliminator between Derrick Lewis and Cyril Gane is bumped up to main event status.

Jose Aldo’s next fight is also set to go down alongside other top UFC fights you can bet on in August.

Let’s start things off with the biggest card of the month?

UFC 265

  • When: August 7, 2021
  • Where: Toyota Center – Houston, TX
  • Main Event: Lewis vs. Gane (Interim UFC Heavyweight Title)

The UFC returns to Texas for a big night of fights.

There are no title bouts on this card, but we have the next best thing. Derrick Lewis vs. Cyril Gane will decide who Francis Ngannou defends his strap against next, so there is a lot on the line.

Ngannou, one of the most unbeatable UFC fighters in 2021, will be watching very closely.

I’ve picked three of the best UFC fights to gamble on in August 2021 from this card. So, get stuck in!

Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane

To say that this is a case of brains vs. brawns would be a huge disservice to Lewis.

But it’s worth pointing out that “The Black Beast” faces an opponent unlike anyone he has met so far in his career. So for him to overcome the challenge of the technical supremacy of Gane is going to take a special strategy.

Or, a perfectly brutal shot that lands flush on the Frenchman’s jaw.

Whatever happens, this will be one of the best UFC fights you can bet on this month. From a purist’s perspective, it is super appealing. Stylistically, there is a lot that can happen yet both are capable of lighting one another up as early as the first round.

However, if anyone is getting knocked out, it will probably be Gane.

Conversely, we could see a striking masterclass from the Frenchman. The odds for UFC fights in August are available on the top MMA betting apps right now, so feel free to check this one out now.

Alternatively, stick with me for more.

Jose Aldo vs. Pedro Munhoz

I’m not going to leave an Aldo fight of this list of the top UFC fights you can wager on this August.

Aldo, arguably the greatest featherweight of all time, takes on “The Young Punisher.” It’s a must-win fight for both men if they are to get back on the path to a potential UFC bantamweight title shot.

Both Brazilians, Aldo (#4) and Munhoz (#8) are both 34. Thus, chances don’t come thick and fast in what just might be the hottest division in the promotion. Especially for “Scarface,” who has a lot more mileage on the clock.

Aldo has been in decent form at 135. First, he dropped a very contentious decision loss to Marlon Moraes before losing to Petr Yan. His last performance in the division yielded an impressive win over Marlon Vera, however.

Munhoz is 3-2 from his last five, with his last fight ending with a victory over Jimmie Rivera in February.

The bantamweight division is on fire now right now, making this a very crucial bout. It’s also an easy pick for my recommended fights to bet on in the UFC this August.

Song Yadong vs. Casey Kenney

These two are looking to make their way back into the rankings at 135 in a clash set to go down on the main card of UFC 265.

Yadong and Kenney are both very exciting fighters, and this should make for some of the best UFC prop bets in August, at the very least.

But what makes this a good fight? Well, there is — much like Aldo vs. Munhoz — a lot riding on it. Defeat could mean disaster for either man, while a win would almost certainly remove a lot of pressure.

In Yadong’s case, he will have a chance to get back on the horse following his loss to Kyler Phillips at UFC 259. That was the Chinese fighter’s first loss under the promotional banner and a bit of a kick in the teeth.

Kenney, who also fought at that event, dropped a decision to bantamweight legend Dominick Cruz having put Louis Smolka, Heili Alateng, and Nathaniel Wood to the sword in his three previous fights.

Michael Chiesa vs. Vicente Luque

Chiesa has the reputation as a boring fighter, but he does what he needs to do to get the “W.”

Having put together a streak of four straight wins, his philosophy is beginning to pay off. Chiesa can count Carlos Condit, Diego Sanchez, Rafael dos Anjos, and Neil Magny among his victims in recent times, and would see a major boost in his stock if he could make it a perfect 5-0 against Luque.

Easier said than done? Ha! You bet.

Luque is a dog. Tough as they come and with serious stoppage power, the Brazilian knocked out Randy Brown and Niko Price before submitting Tyron Woodley in March.

Only Michael Graves, Leon Edwards, and Stephen Thompson have been able to beat Luque in the UFC. All three of those losses coming by way of decision.

If Luque wins this fight in style, he’s in the queue for a shot at Kamaru Usman. It’s that simple.

Although Chiesa will want to make this a snoozer, it’s still one of the top UFC fights you can gamble on this August.

UFC Vegas 34

  • When: Aug 21, 2021
  • Where: UFC APEX – Las Vegas
  • Main Event: Cannonier vs. Gastelum

Another top night of bouts in Vegas? Let’s hope so.

I’m expecting two of the fixtures on the card to be among the best UFC matches you can bet on in August 2021.

The headline fight, though? I’m stoked for this one…

Jared Cannonier vs. Kelvin Gastelum

Cannonier is a beast. Gastelum is a beast.

Perfect matchup? Well, it’s certainly one of the most exciting bouts that the UFC matchmakers have put together for late 2021. These two are not interested in anything other than winning, and will both stand toe-to-toe and bang.

This one, of course, was initially set to feature title challenger Paulo Costa in a UFC Fight Night headliner against Cannonier. Costa pulled out, and the always-game Gastelum stepped in. If he can find a way past Cannonier, it would do his career the world of good.

If you are betting on UFC bouts in August 2021, don’t sleep on this one.

Clay Guida vs. Mark O. Madsen

Speaking of the most exciting UFC fights you can bet on this month…

UFC veteran Guida and the unbeaten Madsen make for an awesome tear-up. with a combined age of 75, these two are hardly spring chickens. But they will look to put on a show for fans, and what’s not to love about that.

If you’re looking to learn how to bet on UFC fights, make sure to do it before this one goes down. It’s a perfect opportunity for a betting novice to place their first wager, given how suitable it will be to all kinds of bets.

UFC Vegas 35

  • When: Aug 28, 2021
  • Where: UFC APEX – Las Vegas
  • Main Event: Barboza vs. Chikadze

The promotion’s final event of the month comes with three of the top UFC fights to bet on in August.

The headliner sees an intriguing clash of styles between Muay Thai wizard Barboza and former standout kickboxer, Chikadze.

Wanna hear more?

Edson Barboza vs. Giga Chikadze

If I had to go with just one of my predictions for UFC fights in August, here’s it — there will be a guaranteed knockout in this fight.

Barboza and Chikadze go together like steak and potatoes. This should make for one of the top fights to put wagers on in the UFC this month. I would be shocked if it turns out to be a dud.

After hovering around the top bracket at lightweight for years, Barboza dropped down to featherweight in 2020. He suffered a split decision loss to Dan Ige in his debut, before registering back-to-back wins over Makwan Amirkhani and Shane Burgos.

Georgia’s Chikadze is on an eight-fight win streak. The last of those wins was a vicious KO over Cub Swanson at just three seconds past the first minute of their matchup in May.

Can Chikadze add another big name to his resume and work his way up that ladder at 145?

Sean Brady vs. Kevin Lee

Top matchmaking seems to be a trend on this card.

Brady vs. Lee looks like the type of bout that should go in favor of the 14-0 Brady. But Lee, who knocked out 13-0 Gregor Gillespie in November 2019, is not one to sleep on.

Simply put, I’m expecting Brady-Lee to be considered as a big fight to bet on in the UFC this August. It has all the ingredients of being an entertaining bout, too, so you can leave the coffee in the cafetière.

This is not a fight you want to miss.
