Top Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays, Values, and Lineup Help for September 1, 2020
NBA DFS as we know it is slowly leaving us. It’s been a wild ride inside the NBA bubble, one that has included some insane performances, a few upsets, and even a boycott.
We’re back in business on Tuesday, but we are now down to just two games per day, maximum. That means our time to hand out NBA DFS picks, sleepers, and lineup advice is facing a dreaded countdown.
Until we arrive at one-game slates, however, I’m here to dig deep and help you build out your daily fantasy basketball lineups.
Let’s get right to it and see who you should be looking to roster on Tuesday.
Top NBA DFS Picks for September 1
- Jamal Murray, PG, Nuggets ($9.7k)
- Donovan Mitchell, Jazz ($9.9k)
- Jayson Tatum, SF, Celtics ($9.2k)
- Pascal Siakam, PF, Raptors ($8k)
- Rudy Gobert, C, Jazz ($7.9k)
Has it really come down to a game seven where Jamal Murray and Donovan Mitchell exchange blows until the bitter end? Yeah, probably.
You can check out our daily NBA picks to see how to bet on the Nuggets vs. Jazz game, but for DFS, I am all-in on stacking this game.
There are just two games to work with, and both of these cats have been on fire for weeks now. Their prices are through the roof, which might help make one of them contrarian. I’ll gladly eat the chalk, though.
That said, Tatum is cheaper than these guys and is going to be quite viable. I don’t love his matchup, but if he’s super contrarian, you can consider pairing him with one of Murray/Mitchell.
Siakam was not good in game one, but then again, none of the Raptors were. I think that changes in game two, and Siakam remains too cheap given his usually strong floor and solid upside.
Lastly, we come to Gobert, who hasn’t possessed much of a ceiling in this series, but has a decent enough floor and will be needed to try to slow down Nikola Jojic.
I certainly prefer Gobert to the value picks at center, while you’re saving $1.6k compared to Jokic, who simply hasn’t been with his price tag in this matchup.
Best NBA DFS Sleepers for Tuesday
- Brad Wanamaker, PG, Celtics ($3.5k)
- Gary Harris, SG, Nuggets ($3.9k)
- Royce O’Neale, SF, Jazz ($4.5k)
- OG Anunoby, PF, Raptors ($4.8k)
- Daniel Theis, C, Celtics ($5.2k)
Gordon Hayward is still out and someone has to eat up his minutes. Off the bench, that has been Wanamaker. Normally I wouldn’t entertain him so much, but he’s really cheap and we could use the salary relief on this slate.
Ditto for Harris. He is not a big stat-stuffer, but after playing 21 minutes in his first game of the bubble in game six, I’d be a little shocked if he didn’t play a lot more with the season on the line.
Minutes aside, if Harris is going to give me 20-25 strong minutes at this price, I’ll roll the dice with him.
O’Neale is another guy who isn’t always super reliable in DFS circles, but he played 38 minutes last game and keeps getting awesome run. That shouldn’t stop, so he’s a lock to help pay up elsewhere.
OG isn’t really on my radar, but he’s another guy who played around 35 minutes most nights. He can do a little bit of everything, but I’ll admittedly only force him into NBA DFS lineups if I feel it’s absolutely necessary.
Center is pretty top-heavy on this slate. I don’t see much reason to punt here, as nobody can really match the stability or upside Jokic/Gobert offer. Theis is at least a decent price and has a pretty reliable floor, but I won’t force it with him on Tuesday.
My Favorite NBA DFS Lineup For September 1
- PG: Jamal Murray – Nuggets ($9.7k)
- SG: Donovan Mitchell – Jazz ($9.9k)
- SF: Royce O’Neale – Jazz ($4.5k)
- PF: OG Anunoby – Raptors ($4.8k)
- C: Rudy Gobert – Jazz ($7.9k)
- G: Brad Wanamaker – Celtics ($3.5k)
- F: Michael Porter Jr. – Nuggets
- UTIL: Gary Harris – Nuggets ($3.9k)
There is obviously merit in stacking the other game, as well as fading one or both of Murray/Mitchell. Guys like Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, and Fred VanVleet are typically equally good plays, after all.
However, the DFS environment simply isn’t as alluring in the Celtics/Raptors game, and both Murray and Mitchell probably offer more upside than anyone else on this slate at this point.
In an insanely tense game seven, I’d be a little shocked if they both didn’t ball out en route to a wild finish.
That has me paying up for both of them, while Gobert is my anchor at center. The other NBA DFS value picks speak for themselves, and hopefully, some of them carry low enough ownership to help this squad be different than all the rest.
Good luck, and enjoy the games!
