Are you looking to bet on boxing matches in March 2022? If that’s a yes, I have a bunch that will catch your eye.

One of the biggest bouts of the month, Charlo vs. Castano 2, was unfortunately canceled. That was a bit of a downer, given how close the first encounter was. Although it should be rescheduled later this year, it’s still disappointing.

The upside, however, is that there are plenty of top boxing fights you can wager on this March. From Roman Gonzalez’s return to Kiko Martinez’s first defense of his IBF title, you have plenty of options to win money betting on boxing this month. 

Let’s start with the first major fight of March 2022 and work our way to the end of the month.

Jose Ramirez takes on Jose Pedraza in what should be one of the best boxing matches to bet on in March 2022.

Ramirez will be looking to get back on track following his loss to Scotland’s undisputed — that is, depending on who you ask — junior welterweight champion Josh Taylor last year. Taylor recently picked up a controversial win over Jack Catterall that will likely see him move up to 147-pounds, opening the division up.

In front of his home state fans, he will be looking to get the job done over former two-division titlist, Jose Pedraza.

Pedraza was coming off a win over Julian Rodriguez in June 2021. He stopped the previously unbeaten prospect in the 8th round, making it three on the bounce for the “Sniper.” The Puerto Rican fan favorite will fancy his chances against Ramirez, but the odds on the best apps for betting on boxing are against him.

Ramirez is currently priced as the -600 favorite, with Pedraza a +425 underdog. If you’re looking for the top bets for boxing matches in March 2022, some might argue an upset by Pedraza will be up there. I’m not so sure.

Still, this should be among the top boxing matches to bet on this March and will set the tone for the other major fights coming up.

You could put the legendary Nicaraguan Roman Gonzalez in there with a dustpan. It would probably still make this list of the best boxing matches to bet on in March 2022.

Luckily for fans, Gonzalez will not be boxing a dustpan. Instead, “Chocolatito” will be squaring off with the incumbent WBC flyweight champ, Julio Cesar Martinez, at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. 

Tipped to be the best boxing match in March 2022, and perhaps one of the year’s fights, this one should not be happening at all. Gonzalez is stepping in for WBA titleholder Juan Francisco Estrada, who pipped him in their rematch last year. 

The four-division world champion, who has overtaken the legendary Alexis Arguello as his country’s most decorated fighter, confirmed that he is happy to lace them up in place of his rival. He was coy about a trilogy fight with Estrada, however.

Mexico’s Martinez is a solid fighter who carries a lot of power in his fists. 

With 18 wins and just one defeat, he establishes himself among the top fighters of the lower divisions in the sport. Although he failed to make this list of candidates for the top boxer of 2021, he could very well cement himself as the man by December.

Martinez will take it to Gonzalez in what should be one of the very best boxing matches you can bet on in March 2022. Don’t miss this one.

Ireland’s Michael Conlan will cross the water to take on newly crowned WBA champion Leigh Wood on March 12.

Conlan is looking to win his first world title in the paid ranks but must get past an adamant opponent in his backyard. Aside from being up there with the top fights in boxing this March that you can bet on, it should be a belter of a contest. 

The Irishman, who is signed to Bob Arum’s Top Rank, is a popular figure in the sport. The Belfast-native came to the attention of most when he was infamously robbed of a win at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and his open tirade aimed at the “corruption” that was rampant in the sport.

A subsequent investigation is correct. Something that came as little consolation to the London 2012 bronze medalist.

In July, England’s Wood stopped China’s Xu Can with 17 seconds remaining fighting to win the WBA (Regular) flyweight strap.

The 33-year-old will be looking to add the name of another Irishman to his list of victories, having stopped Mullingar’s David Oliver Joyce in 2019. Conlan should offer a much tougher test than his compatriot, however.

Top boxing betting site BetOnline has Conlan’s odds to win at -175, with the champion a +145 underdog in his hometown.

Ranked as the #5 best welterweight on the planet by The Ring Magazine, a win over fellow-unbeaten prospect McKinson could see the Texan primed for a title shot later this year. The kid certainly has the goods to dominate this sport but will need to showcase his best qualities to up his profile.

By no means is the betting favorite a guaranteed win in what should be up there with the top boxing bouts to bet on this March. But the consensus is that his power might prove to be the key factor in this matchup. Ortiz has won all 18 of his bouts by stoppage.

England’s McKinson will be taking a considerable step up in class when he enters the ropes on March 19 in California. Regardless, he is thankful for the opportunity to test himself against one of the world’s best.

The Portsmouth-native has fought next to no world-level talent. Although he has 22 straight victories, he has stopped just two of his opponents. If the tricky southpaw cannot outbox Ortiz, this one could be over within the first half of the fight. 

Although it might be a one-sided fight, the prospect of an upset makes it one of the best boxing matches you can gamble on in March 2022.

England’s Sunny Edwards makes the second defense of his world title against Muhammad Waseem in Dubai on March 19.

Having dethroned the legendary Moruti Mthalane in April 2022, he registered a successful defense of his title with the schooling of Jayson Mama in December. With his IBF flyweight title on the line, you can expect Edwards to be at the top of his game on the night. 

Waseem’s only career loss came against Mthalane in an IBF title shot back in 2018. He came close to the upset but would eventually have the judges rule against him in a fight where he dropped the South African. 

While Edwards’ odds make him the favorite in this bout, he will need a big performance to hang onto his strap. One of my recommended boxing matches to bet on in March 2022 should be a top-class encounter.

Tyrone McKenna is being entirely written off by most. But that doesn’t mean he is ready to make up the numbers against the former world champion, Prograis, on March 19.

Another of March’s best boxing matches to bet on, this one will feature on the same card as Edwards vs. Waseem.

Belfast’s McKenna has gone toe-to-toe with Prograis on social media in the build-up to the fight and looks confident of pulling off an upset. If those betting on the top boxing matches in March 2022 sniff an upset, they can get their bets down on this one.

McKenna, who holds the WBO intercontinental super-lightweight championship, was beaten by Jack Catterall. And while the Englishman proved himself to be a lot better than some believed he was against Taylor, Prograis is the better fighter.

While an upset cannot be completely ruled out, this looks like the American’s fight to lose. Still, I have no concerns about adding Prograis vs. McKenna to my list of top fights you can bet on this March 2022.

Last but not least, it is the big one for British and Spanish boxing fans.

Kiko Martinez vs. Josh Warrington promises to be fireworks. Following the Spanish veteran’s shock KO win over Kid Galahad last year, he has laughed off claims that he is a spent force. Warrington, who was also upset by Mauricio Lara in February 2021, is looking to get his old belt back but will need a big performance.

Warrington’s rematch with Lara ended in a draw when the Mexican was cut due to an accidental clash of heads. In some respects, that was a result for the Leeds-based fighter, given that he was expected to lose the second bout. 

Martinez lost his IBF super-bantamweight title to Carl Frampton in 2014. After that bout, he suffered an up-and-down run of results, with several title shots against him. Although it seems he has been around forever, at 33, he is not yet done. 

A win over Warrington would signal Martinez is still a man to be feared. With so many fights in this division for him, sparking out Galahad could prove to be his rebirth. 

There is no doubt that this is one of the top boxing matches to gamble on in March 2022. It should also be a great fight overall. 

If you’re betting on boxing in March 2022, these are the fights that will be the most interesting to target.

Although the month is a little lightweight in terms of quantity, there are enough bouts to wager on to keep you satisfied. The Martinez vs. Chocolatito and Martinez-Warrington fights, in particular, should be quality.
