The Top Boxing Matches to Bet on in June 2021

| June 3, 2021 9:20 am PDT

If you are looking to win money betting on boxing matches in June 2021, you’re in for a treat. I will be filling you in on the best fights to wager on this June, which feature a wide array of world champions.

Better yet, there are two all-time greats making appearances inside the ropes, as well as one surefire, future International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee.

Before I get to the first fight, make sure to bookmark this page if you plan on gambling on boxing matches in June 2021. With so much action set to go down this month, it will be quite easy to lose track of all the big bouts coming our way.

June 19 is particularly chock-full of top fights to bet on this month. And if you have not yet seen the boxing schedule for June 2021, you’re going to raise an eyebrow or two when you find out just how stacked that one Saturday is.

But I digress. Let’s kick off my list of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021 with a heavyweight dust-up in the UK.

Daniel Dubois vs. Bogdan Dinu

  • When: Saturday, June 5
  • Where: Telford International Centre, Telford, England
  • For: (Vacant) WBA Interim Heavyweight Title

England’s young heavyweight prospect Dubois makes his return to the ring on June 5 following his first professional loss.

The Londoner suffered a nasty eye injury that saw his highly anticipated bout with Joe Joyce stopped in ten rounds back on November 28. The man known to fans as “Triple D” couldn’t deal with Joyce’s persistent jab, but was actually up on the cards at the time of the stoppage.

The 23-year-old’s promoter, Frank Warren, defended Dubois from accusations of being a quitter. But in all fairness, most realistic fans understood that the injury was far too gruesome to risk carrying on.

Dubois lives to fight another day, and that day will be June 5 against Bogdan Dinu in England.

Although the Romanian won’t ask the tough questions Joyce did, this is one of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021. It’s a real fight, at least. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said of this next one.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul

  • When: Sunday, June 6
  • Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida

I am going to catch some flak for adding Mayweather vs. Paul to my list of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021. Before you throw rocks my way, you should hear what I have to say.

Mayweather vs. Paul is not among the best boxing matches this June. It is not even a boxing match, as the act of pitting an all-time great against a YouTuber immediately diminishes the definition of a fair match.

Still, I believe this to be one of the top fights you can bet on this month, regardless of its pantomimic nature. That’s mostly down to the fact that there will be tons of Mayweather vs. Paul odds, bets, and markets that you could take advantage of.

Rather than spend any more time on this one, check out my betting guide for Mayweather vs. Paul.

But if you are giving the bout the wide berth, let’s move on to a boxing fight this June that genuinely excites me.

Shakur Stevenson vs. Jeremiah Nakathila

  • When: Saturday, June 12
  • Where: Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Nevada
  • For: (Vacant) WBO Interim Junior Lightweight Title

Stevenson vs. Nakathila is one of the big boxing matches to bet on in June 2021. Shakur Stevenson is by far one of the most exciting prospects in American boxing.

The Newark-native will be looking to exhibit the full extent of his skill set on Top Rank’s card this June 12 in Las Vegas against Nakathila of Walvis Bay, Namibia.

““Team Nakathila is very excited. Namibia and the African continent is very excited that the opportunity that Nakathila deserved for so long will now finally materialize.”

The African is clearly excited at the chance to test himself against one of the best in the business. This is just another one of the top fights you can bet on this June, so make sure to set an alarm.

Naoya Inoue vs. Michael Dasmarinas

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Where: Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Nevada
  • For: WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring Bantamweight Titles

The best boxing match to wager on in June 2021? Despite the sheer amount of talent on display this month, Naoya Inoue vs. Michael Dasmarinas is the fight I’m looking forward to the most.

The Japanese superstar is probably my favorite boxer right now, and I’d tune in if he was fighting a rag on a stick.

His opponent on the night, Michael Dasmarinas, is certainly no old piece of cloth on a wooden rod. But the Filipino is hardly among the top fighters in boxing, by any means.

Still, “Hot and Spicy” has the opportunity of a lifetime in facing the pound-for-pound number two.

Alongside the spectacle of watching an incredibly talented Inoue go to work, I’m excited about the bets to place on this fight. This is one of the top fights to gamble on this June, so make sure to circle the date of June 19 in your calendar right now.

As I mentioned earlier, this date is absolutely stacked with top-class talent. And one of these next fighters proves that.

Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr.

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Where: LoanDepot Park, Miami, Florida
  • For: WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring Lightweight Titles

Lopez vs. Kambosos Jr. makes my list of top boxing matches you can wager on in June 2021 Lopez pulled off one of the biggest shocks in recent times in his absolute dismantling of living legend Vasyl Lomachenko in October 2020.

That bagged Teo the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles, meaning just one piece of the puzzle — Devin Haney’s WBC strap — is required to unify the division.

Another reason why I consider Lopez-Kambosos one of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021 is that it will show us a little more about the mentality of the American mentality.

Teofimo Lopez Record from Last Five Fights
Opponent Result Round Date
Vasyl Lomachenko UD Round 12 Oct 17, 2020
Richard Commey TKO Round 2 Dec 14, 2019
Masayoshi Nakatani UD Round 12 Jul 19, 2019
Edis Tatli KO Round 5 Apr 20, 2019
Diego Magdaleno KO Round 7 Feb 2, 2019

I mean, he has reached the summit of the mountain at a very young age, beating a fighter many still considered as the best in the world. This fight will be a test of his motivation, at the very least.

Kambosos is also coming off the biggest win of his career, having beaten Wales’ Lee Selby last October in London. He will be as fired up for this one as a fighter can get.

Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Where: Houston, Texas
  • For: WBC Middleweight Title

WBC middleweight titlist, Charlo, returns to his hometown on June 19. Charlo takes to the ring against Mexico’s Juan Macias Montiel in what should be one of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021.

Charlo continues to divide fans with his choice of opponents, with most believing that this fight is a foregone conclusion. Montiel is not recognized among the elite of 160-pounds, and there is an argument to say that, against a big middleweight in Charlo, that he will not even look fit for the division.

Montiel scored a huge first-round KO over a decent former light middleweight in James Kirkland back in December.

That was the third fight Kirkland had since been knocked into the nether regions by Canelo Alvarez in May 2015, which somewhat diminishes the achievement.

With so many top-class fighters in Charlo’s division, fans were expecting a little bit more than this.

His victory over Sergey Derevyanchenko was impressive, and it was expected that he would go up in competition following that win rather
than down.

But despite what should be a one-sided fight, I think Charlo-Montiel to be one of the top boxing matches to gamble on this June.

The prop bets for the fight will be well worth looking into, as I think the American could look to use this fight in order get some rounds in ahead of a clash with Jaime Munguia later this year.

Speak of the devil.

Jaime Munguia vs. Maciej Sulecki

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Where: Don Haskins Center, El Paso, Texas
  • For: WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight Title

Although there have been a few scenarios where we have had one-sided fights that are still among the big boxing matches to bet on in June 2021, this is different.

Unbeaten middleweight scrapper Jaime Munguia takes on Maciej Sulecki on June 19 in what is a very underrated fight.

Even though the Mexican is expected to win this one with ease, I’m not so sure. In fact, I am beginning to strongly entertain the idea of an upset in this one.

I won’t be going deep into my predictions and pick for Munguia vs. Sulecki just yet, but I will say that you can currently get odds of +500 with the best boxing betting sites on a win for the Pole.

Add this one to your list of top fights to gamble on in boxing this June.

Chavez vs. Silva – Tribute to The Kings

  • When: Saturday, June 19
  • Where: Estadio Jalisco, Guadalajara, Mexico

If you thought Mayweather vs. Paul was a pantomime, you are going to love what’s coming up on June 19 in Mexico.

As for the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021, this card deserves a mention alongside the rest. It’s quite bizarre, sure, but there are also some pretty cool bouts across it.

Spoiled brat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fights legendary former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva in a boxing exhibition that makes absolutely no sense at all.

But it gets even better as his father, all-time great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., takes on the son of the late Hector “Macho” Camacho.

Chavez Sr. retired in September 2005 with a record of 107-6-2 following a loss to Grover Wiley. But this will be his final performance ever and is due to draw massive numbers in Mexico, where “The Caesar of Boxing” is considered one of the greatest people to have ever walked the planet.

Alongside the Chavez bouts, there are some interesting matchups. Here’s the full “Tribute to Kings” card, so take a look over what’s on offer.

Tribute to the Kings Fight Card
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva Cruiserweight
Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. vs. Hector Camacho Jr. Light Heavyweight
Omar Chavez vs. Ramon Alvarez Middleweight
Damian Sosa vs. Abel Mina Junior Middleweight
Manuel Jaimes vs. Francisco Martinez Lightweight
Kevin Torres vs. Jorge Luis Melendez Junior Welterweight
Mario Alberto Ramirez vs. Pedro Castro Super Featherweight

At least a few of these are among the best fights for betting on in June. At the very least, they should be a fun way to wager a couple of dollars on the boxing.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Masayoshi Nakatani

  • When: Saturday, June 26
  • Where: Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Nevada

We’re almost at the end of my list of the best boxing matches to bet on in June 2021, but we’re not done just yet. Lomachenko vs. Nakatani is one I will be tuning in to watch on June 26.

Not only does it mark the first fight for the Ukrainian legend since his upset defeat to Teofimo Lopez in 2020, but it also gives us the earliest chance to see what “Hi-Tech” has left in the tank.

Nakatani is a solid opponent, having amassed a record of 20-1 with the only defeat of his career coming against Lopez. The Japanese star would go global with a win over Lomachenko and will fancy his chances of pushing the two-time Olympic gold medalist into retirement.

I will stop short of making predictions for Lomachenko vs. Nakatani, other than that I believe it will be one of the top boxing matches in June 2021 you can bet on.

Don’t miss out on this one.

Mario Barrios vs. Gervonta Davis

  • When: Saturday, June 26
  • Where: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
  • For: For WBA (Regular) Super Lightweight Title

The last on the list of my top boxing matches to wager on in June 2021 will see Barrios take on Davis in Atlanta.

Barrios puts his WBA (Regular) super lightweight crown on the line in what will be the toughest fight of his career by some stretch. Still, “El Azteca” will not be entering the ropes with anything but confidence as he attempts to claim the 27th straight victory of his professional career.

Davis, an unbeaten junior lightweight champion, is moving up to fight the San Antonio native having knocked out Leo Santa Cruz at super featherweight in October.

The size difference between Santa Cruz and his next opponent will be there for all to see on the night. Davis, at just over 5.5 inches, is giving up 4.5″ in height and four in reach.

This could be a tricky fight for “Tank,” making this one for any shrewd bettor to look at. Ergo, Barrios vs. Davis makes my list of the best of the boxing matches to gamble on in June 2021.
