Team Secret vs. Alliance Betting Preview with Prediction and Pick – ESL One Birmingham, June 3rd

| June 3, 2020 12:24 am PDT

Team Secret entered the ESL One Birmingham as the overwhelming favorite in the EU and CIS region. Nothing has changed up to this point and the squad is expected to keep crushing the opposition in the playoffs of the competition.

First in line is Alliance and this is one of the few teams that has won a game against Secret after the arrival of the new Dota 2 meta which makes this match especially interesting. The favorite will be looking for revenge, but I have that the opponent won’t go down without a fight.

I share my prediction and free betting pick for the clash in my Team Secret vs. Alliance betting preview. It also features the latest odds and my analysis of both sides.

Team Secret vs. Alliance Odds

  • Team Secret to win; -1000
  • Alliance to win; +557
  • Team Secret (-1.5); -200
  • Alliance (+1.5); +152
  • Over 2.5; +184
  • Under 2.5; -244

The Team Secret vs. Alliance odds and lines you see here are available at BetOnline. The bookmaker obviously believes that the favorite won’t have any issues in the upcoming clash and even dropping one game will be a surprise. That’s probably a step too far if you ask me.

Team Secret Analysis

Most people expected a flawless run from Team Secret in the group stages of the ESL One Birmingham and while the squad actually lost one match, the rest of the rounds were won without giving up a single game.

Teams like Nigma, Liquid, and Vikin.gg were demolished on the road to the knockouts. Surprisingly, Team Unique was able to stop Secret’s streak with a clean sweep that came out of nowhere. The key to success was winning the laning phase and not making any mistakes in the late game.

It sounds simple, but executing on such a level against an opponent like Secret is close to impossible. And yet, the only other team that managed to do that within one game in the past month or so is Alliance.

Alliance Analysis

Alliance was my dark horse for the ESL One Birmingham crown before the start of the competition and I was surprised to see two defeats in the opening two games of the team. That’s when the squad rediscovered its mojo and won five in a row to book a place in the Upper Bracket.

The likes of VP.Prodigy, FlyToMoon, and HellRaisers were beaten along the way and Alliance looked impressive. The team’s ability to draft well and find ways to win at least one lane with any lineup has been the key to success.

Alliance’s style looks too risky sometimes, but the guys have the skillset and experience to make it work. Playing on the edge is the only way to beat Team Secret, so I think that we have a game on our hands today.

Team Secret vs. Alliance Prediction and Free Betting Pick

Everyone expects a crushing victory for Team Secret and I can see why. And yet, I believe that Alliance is one of the few opponents that could cause trouble against the big favorite. That’s why getting a price of +184 for the over 2.5 market seems way too high and I feel obliged to pick it.

  • Over 2.5; +184
