On the surface, everything is going great for Team Liquid. The favorite won both matches so far and sits on top of the group, alongside FURIA Esports. A closer look at the opening encounters shows some cracks, though.

Bad News Bears won a map and pushed Liquid to the limit, while MIBR stayed close on both maps despite the seemingly easy victory.

My impression is that the team has been doing just enough to win and that’s understandable. Hitting top form so early in the competition makes no sense for a squad like Liquid.

I’m sure that Envy is one of the teams that are happy with their performance so far. The defeat against FURIA was not the ideal start to the Road to Rio, but Envy looked strong on Nuke against one of the best teams in the group.

The squad bounced back and completely demolished Yeah in the second match, allowing the opposition only four rounds over the two maps. It was a good victory for Envy’s confidence and the team will need every bit of an advantage it can get for the upcoming clash against Liquid.

I won’t shock anyone with my prediction by backing Team Liquid to win this one. And yet, the favorite has been inconsistent at times, while Envy has a lot of momentum coming into this match. I believe we could see a closer clash than the odds suggest and the price of +201 for over 2.5 maps is worth a shot.
