Taiwan Steel vs. Taichung Futuro Betting Preview – Taiwan Premier League, May 3
Undoubtedly the game of the week in the Taiwan Premier League, Taichung travels south to take on Taiwan Steel in a fixture that will be able to tell us a lot about how well both sides will do this season and their capacity to challenge for the title.
Other clubs might have recorded better results overall so far, but these two recruited heavily in the offseason to be able to compete this year and will be out for some instant returns. Who’s more likely to triumph? Find out my take with my Taiwan Steel vs. Taichung Futuro prediction.
Latest Betting Odds
Although neither club has set the league alight as yet, there is a lot to like about both Taiwan Steel and Taichung Futuro and the way they went about bringing in players to improve their chances of success. The MyBookie sportsbook has Taiwan Steel as the slight favorites, but this should be a very close game, and the draw might be the way to go.
Taiwan Steel vs. Taichung Futuro Preview
Both Marc Fenelus and Benchy Estama have shown already why Taiwan Steel brought them in before the start of the season, and those two are likely to be top scorers this season, even if they don’t quite lead the goal standings early on this year. Fenelus, in particular, will be invaluable to Taiwan Steel’s dreams of overcoming Tatung at the top of the league.
It was the Turks and Caicos Islands international who saved his side’s blushes last week, scoring the winner six minutes from time against lowly Red Lions. Manager Lo Chi-Chhong will be hoping that this game is not quite as nerve-wracking, but it will surely be a close affair.
Taichung Futuro has been relying on its Japanese connections to get the job done so far, and it has definitely been working. Unbeaten in the first three games, Taichung looked every inch Tatung’s equal in the draw last week and will see that as a point gained rather than two lost.
The Taichung strikers may look to pressure Taiwan Steel keeper Pan Wen-Chieh after the calamitous mistake he made last week to gift Red Lions its second goal. The slipup was uncharacteristic for the international, but he might still be a little nervy this weekend, and Taichung might be able to capitalize on that.
Taiwan Steel vs. Taichung Futuro Prediction and Pick
There is not much to pick between these two, so I’m not going to and will predict a draw instead. I’ve been very impressed with the way Taichung has played already this season and feel that it can really take the game to Taiwan Steel on Sunday.
With the likes of Fenelus and Estama up front, there will always be a danger of the home side scoring, however, so the draw seems the best way to go and has the most attractive odds, too.
