Taiwan Steel vs. NTUS Betting Preview – Taiwan Premier League, May 10

Taiwan Steel might have thought that it would be doing better by this point of the season considering the signings it made in the offseason. But that is more down to the increased parity in the league than a failure on its part.

This week, Taiwan Steel hosts the students from NTUS and will be expecting a win that puts more pressure on the glut of clubs at the top of the Taiwan Premier League. I’ve got my Taiwan Steel vs. NTUS prediction made already. You can check it out below.

Taiwan Steel is the understandable clear favorite here with Betway. There are definitely two tiers in the Taiwan top flight, and Taiwan Steel and NTUS inhabit different worlds. It is difficult to see past a home win here, although the odds are not really attractive enough for a single match result bet. A goals total wager might be of more interest.

When Taiwan Steel took Marc Fenelus and Chen Wei-chuan from Tatung — and then Benchy Estama from Hang Yuen — it seemed as though it would be the main player in the league this season. That hasn’t quite turned out to be the case, but this is a team that will definitely push its rivals all the way this year.

But two wins from four is not the greatest start, and last week’s loss to Taichung showed that it cannot expect everything its own way. It is early days, but it is slightly worrying that the only wins so far have come against Red Lions and MCU. Even if NTUS should be added to that list on Sunday.

Although NTUS has only picked up the one point so far, the results had not been that bad until last weekend when the students were thrashed 5-1 by Taipei Tatung. Even then, it took until just before half time for the stronger side to score, before putting the game completely beyond doubt in the second half.

There won’t be much hope of gaining a draw or a victory here on Sunday, but NTUS will know that the three games each against Ming Chuan University and Red Lions will be the most important fixtures to concentrate on this season. Only one side goes down, and it will be one of those three. A Taiwan Steel win in this fixture will not affect that.

There is virtually no question that Taiwan Steel will be victorious on Sunday against NTUS. But if the students can keep the goal count down, then they will feel that they have achieved something, at least. The odds for the home win are not attractive, but they are also not completely unusable, so a parlay bet might be the answer.
