Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs. Gwangju FC Betting Preview – K League 1, June 7

After the disappointment of last season, this year hasn’t gone quite to plan for Suwon, either. This week the Bluewings entertain a Gwangju team that is yet to win a game so far.
The newly promoted club has found it difficult to adapt to the South Korean top flight, but it did score its first goal last week. I’ve provided my full Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs. Gwangju FC prediction and betting pick below.
Latest Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs. Gwangju FC Odds
This is one of the more one-sided fixtures in K League 1 this weekend according to BetOnline. But if anything, I might have expected for the gap between the odds to be even larger here, as Gwangju sits rock bottom of the table with only a point to its name so far. Although Suwon might not have had a great 2019, it is one of the bigger clubs in the country.
Match Preview
There was some surprise that Busan IPark was able to hold Suwon to a goalless draw last weekend. But one of the other promoted sides this season has looked fairly good so far and fully deserved picking up another point so early on in the campaign. Suwon was, once again, frustrated by its opponents and unable to use its attacking talent to good effect.
Last year’s top goal scorer, Adam Taggart, is yet to get off the mark this season and will be desperate to change that if he is selected against Gwangju. Bosnian striker Sulejman Krpic did get his first a few weeks before against Ulsan, but he has not added to his tally, either.
If Gwangju can keep those two in check, then it might feel that it has a chance of adding some more points to the one it won last week in the impressive draw with Ulsan. That was a really battling performance from the bottom-of-the-table side, and Felipe, in particular, proved a handful for the opposing defenders throughout.
The Brazilian striker played a major part in Gwangju’s promotion to K League 1 last season but has been unable to find the net so far. It seems only a matter of time before that does happen, though, and Gwangju could take a lot of confidence and belief from last week’s draw.
Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs. Gwangju FC Pick
-
Suwon Samsung Bluewings to Win-117
Although Gwangju could give Suwon a really good game here, I do think that the larger club will prevail at home and pick up some much-needed points in a race to finish in the top six this year. Eighth place last season was not good enough for a club of this stature, and there should be too much attacking flair in the Suwon side for Gwangju to cope with on Sunday.
