Steve Beaton vs. Jelle Klaasen Betting Preview and Prediction

The PDC Darts at Home event is back and Wednesday’s schedule gives us the opportunity to bet on a couple of interesting ties.

One of those will see Steve Beaton taking on Jelle Klaasen. The two pros have faced off against each other a total of 25 times so they know their respective styles quite well.

My Steve Beaton vs. Jelle Klassen betting preview will give you an idea of who is the favorite ahead of the match and what are the main betting markets you can take advantage of.

I follow that up with a short analysis of the current form of both players and conclude with my prediction for the game and a free betting pick.

Steve Beaton vs. Jelle Klaasen Odds

The odds below are courtesy of 10bet. The bookmaker is among the top darts betting sites out there and they have prepared some tasty markets you can dip into.

Here is how things are looking right now:

Winner Full Time

Steve Beaton 1.86
Jelle Klaasen 1.80

Handicap Full Time

Steve Beaton (-1.5) 2.60
Jelle Klaasen (+1.5) 1.43

Over/Under Full Time

Over 7.5 1.65
Under 7.5 2.09

The Dutchman Jelle Klaasen is handed a slight advantage here and that was to be expected but Beaton has been successful against his opponent in the past and is a seasoned pro with a lot of experience.

Let’s take a look at what both players have been up to recently and figure out what the best betting angle would be.

Steve Beaton Current Form

The Englishman currently holds the 26th position in the PDC world rankings and was last seen in action on March 15th when he took on another Dutch pro. The 93rd-ranked Derk Telnekes proved to be a worthy opponent and ultimately won the game 6-5.

Before that, Beaton had lost another game with the same scoreline. Overall, since the turn of the year, the player’s record reads 10 games and 10 losses.

It might look like he is not enjoying his best stretch but it’s also true that he was on fire during the whole of February.

Beaton will be looking to re-capture this form as he faces an old foe in Klaasen.

Jelle Klaasen Current Form

The 35-year-old Dutchman is ranked in 48th place right now. His last game was an unsuccessful outing against compatriot Benito van de Pas where he was thrashed 6-2.

Klaasen did better against Scottish veteran John Henderson but was still unable to salvage anything from the game despite winning 4 legs.

However, fixtures in early March saw him rack up four consecutive victories. He might not have the same experience as Beaton but he is still a season professional with a lot of quality.

Steve Beaton vs. Jelle Klaasen Prediction and Pick

Despite turning 56 just recently, Beaton is still the better player in my view. He holds a much higher ranking position and has an overwhelming head-to-head advantage.

Although Klaasen has been able to rattle him on a few occasions, the Englishman has 16 wins to the Dutch player’s 9.

I believe Beaton will edge this one as well. It promises to a tight affair, but the veteran is much more suited for shorter games and the PDC Darts at Home nine-leg format will be a big advantage.

These two usually produce high scorelines so the odds for the Over 7.5 are understandably low. However, the 1.80 price for Beaton is a great deal.

We’ll know more about both players’ current form once they conclude their earlier ties in the tournament, but with the information we have at the moment I believe backing Beaton is the value bet here.

Pick
  • Steve Beaton
    1.80
