Smolevichi vs. Isloch Betting Preview – Belarusian Premier League, July 10

| July 10, 2020 12:57 am PDT

This weekend’s Belarusian Premier League fixtures kick off on Friday as relegation-threatened Smolevichi hosts Isloch.

This battle of the minnows looks like an intriguing encounter as the home side looks to give itself more of a chance of staying up this year. I break down the odds, then provide my Smolevichi vs. Isloch prediction and betting pick.

Smolevichi vs. Isloch Odds

Smolevichi to Win+290
The Draw+245
Isloch to Win-114

MyBookie has Smolevichi as the underdog to win this game in its own stadium, but I think that there is more momentum behind the home side than with an Isloch team seemingly content to live life in mid-table. A home win might be stretching it a little, but the odds for a draw look interesting.

Smolevichi vs. Isloch Match Preview

A few weeks ago, it seemed as though Smolevichi would join Belshina in going straight back down again at the end of the year as every round of fixtures increased the points gap at the bottom of the table. But two wins and a draw in the last five games have renewed hope at the club.

Last week’s draw with reigning champions Dynamo Brest was impressive as Smolevichi was two down at halftime before staging a second-half comeback. It even led — albeit for just two minutes — near the end and should probably have held on for all three points.

Now the confidence would seem to be with Smolevichi rather than Isloch this weekend. The small Minsk club had actually been on a very good run of its own recently but lost last week to Neman, and I’m not sure that there is the necessary fight in the squad at the moment.

A mid-table finish would definitely be an achievement for Isloch, and if it can continue to pick up points every few weeks, then that should be achievable. There are definitely at least two worse sides in the Belarusian Premier League this season, so Vitaly Zhukovsky’s team should be fine.

Prediction and Pick

  • The Draw

A point for each side here would probably be welcomed by both sets of players and managers, so if the game is looking that way with only 15 or 20 minutes to play in the second half on Friday, then that might be the end of any attacking moves. With Smolevichi’s recent good form, I think that the odds for a draw look very good value.
