SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match

The New Day will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship belts in a four-way match at WWE Money in the Bank 2020.

The Miz & Morrison, The Forgotten Sons, and The Lucha House Party will also be participating, so it’s set to be one of the standout bouts of this year’s event.

In this post, I look at the odds and assess each teams’ chances. After taking everything into consideration, I’ll also share my pick.

Let’s get stuck into my SmackDown Tag Team Championship match betting preview.

MITB SmackDown Tag Team Championship Betting Odds

Here are the latest odds for the upcoming SmackDown Tag Team Championship match.

The New Day+100
John Morrison & The Miz+125
The Forgotten Sons+250
The Lucha House Party+500

The top-rated WWE sportsbooks think that The New Day is likely to defend their title at Money in the Bank 2020. The Lucha House Party is the clear outsider, but both John Morrison & The Miz and The Forgotten Sons have the potential to cause an upset.

The New Day to Retain the Title?

The New Day is currently enjoying their sixth stint at the top of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Big E represented the team in a triple threat match against Jey Uso and The Miz in April, pinning the latter to reclaim the title for himself and Kofi Kington. But since then, The New Day has been a target.

The SmackDown Tag Team belts have changed hands frequently in recent years, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Big E and Kingston were knocked off their perch again soon.

However, I’m not sure if WWE will want to end their reign at Money in the Bank. After all, The New Day hasn’t even held the title for a month.

Will John Morrison & The Miz Prevail?

The self-proclaimed “Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century” hasn’t exactly lived up to their name recently.

Sure, Morrison was able to hold onto the title at WrestleMania 36 by defeating Jimmy Uso and Kofi Kingston in a Triple Threat Ladder match. But it didn’t take long for The New Day to snatch the crown on a subsequent edition of SmackDown.

The Miz & Morrison’s reign as champions lasted a grand total of just 50 days, so I don’t think the pair will be given the opportunity to reclaim the title just yet.

Can The Forgotten Sons Claim the Victory?

The Forgotten Sons have come out of nowhere and now stand a genuine chance of winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at one of WWE’s biggest events.

The trio — comprising of Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler, and Jaxson Ryker — only made their debut on the main roster last month. But thanks to a shock win over The New Day in a non-title match a fortnight later, they earned a shot at the title.

It is believed that The Forgotten Sons have been called up to replace The Usos on the blue brand, with Jimmy Uso currently out of action due to a knee injury.

Still, Blake, Cutler, and Ryker have grabbed the bull by the horns and stand as good a chance as anyone in this match.

Will The Lucha House Party Cause an Upset?

The Lucha House Party stunned the world of WWE with a surprise victory over John Morrison and The Miz last month.

Prior to their shock win, Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado — two-thirds of LHP — confronted The New Day and made it clear that they were ready to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

It feels like The Lucha House Party has sat back recently, and this has seen the team fade into insignificance. But will their new-found confidence give them an edge at Money in the Bank?

MITB SmackDown Tag Team Championship Prediction and Pick

Now that The Usos are out of the equation, this should be a decent battle. It’s good to see a couple of different teams being given a shot at the title.

With The Forgotten Sons beating The New Day and LHP conquering The Miz & Morrison in back-to-back SmackDown episodes, anything could happen in this match.

Having said that, I’m going to side with Big E and Kofi Kingston for this one and back The New Day to retain their belts.

After their recent rise on the blue brand, The Forgotten Sons are legitimate contenders, while John Morrison and The Miz will no doubt be eager to reclaim the crown. However, I can’t see The New Day surrendering the title for the time being.

Considering they are the defending champions, odds of +100 for The New Day victory are very generous.
