Sleepers and Value Bets for the 2020 NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on June 7

Sleepers and Value Bets for the 2020 NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on June 7

The rescheduled 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 goes down this Sunday, June 7, from the Atlanta Motor Speedway. And while no spectators will be present this year, you can take consolation from knowing that this should be a hotly contested race.

NASCAR Cup Series leaders Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, and Chase Elliott are among the favorites to win the QuikTrip 500 on the leading NASCAR betting sites, but I’ll be looking past these guys today. My focus will instead be geared towards the dark horses who come with juicier odds.

If you have yet to see the latest odds for the 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, you can check out my preview for the race here. You will also find my pick to win at Atlanta this Sunday, as well as some interesting stats to help you make the right bets.

But as this piece is all about the NASCAR sleepers and value bets, I’ll be requesting your full attention to the task at hand.

Having seen one of my tips, Brad Keselowski, winning the Food City 500 last week — and two of my value bets in Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch finishing 3rd and 4th, respectively — I’m hoping for an even better return this Sunday at “Hotlanta.”

So lace ’em up, and let’s get down to business with four of the best NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 sleepers and value bets online.

Jimmie Johnson +1600

Jimmie Johnson will go down as a NASCAR legend. Anyone with even the remotest knowledge of racing knows that.

But when it comes to 1.5-mile tracks like Atlanta, Johnson was the last great king. I mean, 27 wins, 71 top fives, and 5,679 laps led on 1.5 milers between 2002 and 2016 says it all. Sure, the glory days are behind him now, but Johnson is good for at least one win in his final Cup Series season, and he just might get it this Sunday.

Johnson’s odds to win the 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 are +1600, which are very good considering his history on this track. He has wins in 2004, 2007, 2015, and 2016 and has to be considered as in with a shot in 2020.

A post-race disqualification prevented Johnson from finishing second at the Coca-Cola 600, but he bounced back from that disappointment to finish third at the Food City 500 one week later.

Johnson could win this race.

Kurt Busch +1800

All right, all right. I know Kurt Busch, like Johnson, is yet to win a race this season. But he has been very consistent and is capable of pulling something out of the bag this Sunday.

Busch shares more than a losing streak and elder statesmanship with Johnson — he also has a love of 1.5-mile ovals. In fact, his last win was at Kentucky in July 2019, which goes some way towards proving that.

Can Kurt Busch win the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500? Yes. But the odds, as you can see, are against him. But there is value in these odds, even if his last win here came back in 2010.

Busch has a record of five top fives and three top tens from his last ten races in Atlanta. Last year, he clocked a third-place finish on account of some very savvy driving, and I think he can do the same again.

He knows that old surface better than most drivers out there. But does he have the speed?

Clint Bowyer +2500

Sixth in Daytona. Fifth in Phoenix. Second in Bristol… first in Atlanta?

Bowyer is a +2500 shot to get his first Cup Series win since Michigan in 2018, but don’t write him off just yet. Those odds could be the difference between a good Sunday and a great one, if he can pull it off.

Bowyer has not been the strongest at Atlanta over the years, with just four top tens achieved in a period of 17 races. But. Bowyer’s recent record is much more favorable — he finished third here in 2018 and fifth in 2019.

Now, if you like Bowyer’s chances of finishing in the top five or top ten, the leading NASCAR sites might have the market you are looking for. If you think that there is a chance he could win the race, +2500 buys a lot of candy…

Matt Kenseth +6000

Matt Kenseth’s odds to win the QuikTrip 500 are HUGE for yet another guy with a very strong track record here.

Although Kenseth has never won in Atlanta, his numbers are big. In his last race here in 2017, he finished 3rd. In the three previous races, he clocked 19th, 5th, and 2nd. Over the years, he has been more than decent, registering 11 top-five finishes from 29 starts. His average finishing position is 11.93, which should get your attention at this price.

Kenseth’s last Cup Series win came at Phoenix in 2017, but remember that he has been playing a bit-part role in racing over the past few seasons. He is only taking part this year due to Kyle Larsson’s suspension.

A dark horse, sure. But a dark horse who has a good relationship with this track.

Who Did I Miss?

I’ve gone for a total of four sleepers and value bets ahead of the 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

I’m confident that the four guys above can use their nous and experience to register good returns. I’m happy with my picks and the cases I have made for all four, but is there anyone you think I have missed?

Why not let me know ahead of the race this Sunday? I’d definitely enjoy hearing your take.
