Serie A Predictions June 27

As Italian soccer continues to clear its backlog of fixtures, the betting opportunities just keep on coming! There are three Serie A games taking place on June 27, with title-chasing Lazio one of six sides in action.

Here are Saturday’s Serie A fixtures.

  • Brescia vs. Genoa
  • Cagliari vs. Torino
  • Lazio vs. Fiorentina

Two of the bottom four go head-to-head as Brescia welcomes Genoa to Lombardy for the early kickoff. Separated by just four points, Cagliari and Torino face off at the Sardegna Arena before Lazio hosts Fiorentina.

In this post, I share my predictions for every Serie A game taking place on June 27. I also assess the odds to bring you the best value bets for Saturday’s matchups in Italy’s top tier.

Brescia and Genoa to Draw

Bottom-of-the-table Brescia returned to action with a draw against Fiorentina on Monday, but the point they picked up in Florence hasn’t calmed the club’s relegation fears. Diego Lopez’s side remains eight points from safety and looks destined for an immediate return to Serie B following a dreadful 2019/20 campaign.

The marquee signing of Mario Balotelli last summer gave supporters something to cheer about, but things quickly turned sour for the enigmatic striker. Balotelli’s goals were supposed to help Brescia survive in the top flight, but familiar off-field issues mean the former Manchester City star may never play for the club again.

Meanwhile, Genoa is also staring relegation in the face. “The Griffin” was crushed 4-1 by Parma in their first game since the restart, and the Liguria club is now only outside of the drop zone on goal difference.

Davide Nicola — Genoa’s third head coach of the season — has managed to lift the team out of the bottom three, winning four of his ten league games since taking over in December. However, Genoa’s miserable start to the season means the club remains in serious trouble.

This relegation six-pointer is likely to be a cagey encounter, so I can see the points being shared at Stadio Mario Rigamonti.

Torino to Beat Cagliari

After suffering six straight defeats before the break, it was imperative that Torino returned to action with a string of positive results. And having claimed four points from a possible six since the restart, Moreno Longo couldn’t have asked for much more from his players.

The Turin outfit was unfortunate not to beat Parma following a dominant display in their first game back. But Longo’s men didn’t have to wait long to pick up three points. Captain Andrea Belotti netted his tenth Serie A goal of the season to hand Torino a much-needed victory over Udinese last time out.

Torino appears to be on the up, but the same can’t be said about Cagliari. A 12-game winless run was finally ended by a last-gasp win against relegation-threatened SPAL on Tuesday, but the Islanders have been in freefall since December. Cagliari was sitting pretty in the Champions League places before the turn of the year. They are now languishing in mid-table.

I’m backing Torino to extend their mini revival this weekend. Cagliari managed to stop the rot against SPAL, but rejuvenated Torino is likely to pose a far greater threat.

Lazio to Beat Fiorentina

Lazio was on course to claim a win in their first game back after racing into a two-goal lead inside 11 minutes against Atalanta. A Marten de Roon own goal and a superb long-range strike from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic gave Lazio a comfortable early advantage, but a second-half capitulation eventually saw the Eagles lose 3-2.

Remarkably, that was Lazio’s first league defeat since September and only their third of the entire season. But the result against Atalanta has put a huge dent in the club’s title hopes. Still, the visit of Fiorentina provides the second-place side with an opportunity to get back on track.

Fiorentina needed to hit the ground running after the restart following a poor run leading up to the break, so it’s safe to say that the 1-1 draw with bottom-club Brescia on Monday was a massive disappointment. Indeed, La Viola racked up a whopping 18 shots in their first game back but only managed to hit the back of the net once.

Giuseppe Iachini’s men currently sit fourteenth and are only four points off the top half of the table, although their inconsistency means they could easily get dragged into the relegation battle. Lazio will be desperate to return to winning ways, and I don’t think the title challenger will find it too difficult to pick up maximum points on Saturday.

Serie A Picks for Saturday, June 27

I’ve scoured the odds for Saturday’s games, so now it’s time to check out the top Serie A betting picks for June 27.

Brescia vs. Genoa – Both Teams to Score (1.70)

Given the unpredictable nature of these two teams, it’s difficult to predict which way this game will go. Both sides have endured poor 2019/20 campaigns, but Genoa comes into this matchup as the slight favorite at 2.40. However, backing the away side to win is risky, in my opinion.

Lecce is the only Serie A team with a poorer defensive record than Brescia and Genoa, so I can see both teams getting on the scoresheet here. Granted, neither side has been prolific scorers this term. But their leaky defenses are prone to conceding goals.

Lazio vs. Fiorentina – Lazio to Win and Over 1.5 Goals (1.73)

Considering that Lazio is challenging for the title and has twice as many points as Fiorentina, I think odds of 1.53 for the home win in this fixture are pretty good. Still, by adding the over 1.5 goals market onto the Lazio win, we can enhance the price slightly.

Lazio is the second-highest scorer in the division and has netted over 1.5 goals in 20 of their 27 league games this term. The likelihood of Lazio scoring two goals on their way to victory over struggling Fiorentina is high.
