Seongnam FC vs. Incheon United Betting Preview With Pick – K League 1, May 17
Both these clubs brought in new managers during the offseason in a hope that a top six finish could be achieved this year. The results on the opening day of the season were largely positive, and it bodes well for what could be an entertaining game this weekend.
Seongnam is looking to improve after a steady first year back in the top flight, while success for Incheon seems long overdue.
I’ve detailed my thoughts on this match below in my Seongnam FC vs. Incheon United prediction.
Another close-run game looks in prospect in Seongnam, with BetOnline’s sportsbook making the home side the slight favorite for the win but not seeing much difference between the two. Incheon is slightly underpriced, in my opinion, particularly away from home, but the price for the draw is probably the one that really stands out here.
Preview of Seongnam FC vs. Incheon United
After new manager Kim Nam-il lost a number of the defensive rocks that made Seongnam the most miserly backline in K League 1 last season, the new arrivals might give the team a more attacking look for 2020. That was certainly the case in the first game of the year, as it overcame Gwangju while keeping a clean sheet.
Two goals from Yang Dong-hyun were enough to down the newly promoted side, and the game was effectively over before there was 15 minutes on the clock. Incheon will hope that it can keep out the home side’s attackers early on so it can escape a similar fate.
That should be achievable considering the club from the northwest of the country was able to play out a goalless draw last week at home to Daegu. Its opponents had recruited well, so that result should be seen as a major positive ahead of a campaign where Incheon needs to reassert itself on the league if it wants to make the top six.
There were no goals for main man Stefan Mugosa, though. The Montenegrin striker has been the main threat over the past few years and will undoubtedly be closely watched by Seongnam on Sunday. Another goalless draw would probably be a good result for the visitors, but new manager Lim Wan-seop will obviously be hoping for more.
Seongnam FC vs. Incheon United Prediction and Pick
These clubs finished next to each other in K League 1 last year and already look like they will have very similar seasons this time around. A good mix of players in each squad should ensure that there are no real concerns about relegation, but I’m not sure either side can push on enough to finish much higher than last term. A draw between these two seems the more likely outcome.
