While the whole of Europe is under quarantine, soccer games in the Belarusian Premier League will be played as scheduled. While it’s debatable whether this is the right decision, it does allow us to bet on some European soccer.
The first matchday of the league brought about some huge surprises, and we have another exciting clash to look forward to on Friday, March 27th. Two teams that got off to a flying start will be locking horns in the Yunost Stadium in Brest.
In this Ruh Brest vs. Energetyk-BDU betting preview, I explore the odds that the top soccer betting sites have in store for us and provide my analysis on both teams based on the latest stats and their recent form.
I conclude with my prediction and a free pick. But first, let’s have a look at what the bookmakers have rolled out.
As you can see, there is not a lot separating these teams at the moment. Both made a great start to the season, and the betting sites are expecting a tight match. Let’s see if we can do one better and figure out where the biggest betting value lies here.
Ruh Brest vs. Energetyk-BDU Analysis
Ruh Brest is a newcomer to the top division. They spent last season in the second tier of Belarusian soccer and managed to get a promotion to the elite tier. Overall, since gaining professional status in 2018, the team has only been on the up.
Their debut fixture in the top echelon will also be something to remember. They were able to inflict a 1-0 home loss to last year’s 4th-seed Dinamo Minsk.
Energetyk-BDU enjoyed a typical mid-table season last year by finishing 12th in the Premier League. They didn’t draw too much attention, but this may change after an impressive victory over giants BATE Borisov in this season’s opener.
The team won 3-1 with 22-year-old Uzbeki star Jasurbek Yakhshiboev scoring a brace. The midfielder will be surely looking to extend his streak but will be faced by a determined Ruh Brest team that managed to shut down Dinamo Minsk’s attack last week.
Ruh Brest vs. Energetyk-BDU Prediction and Pick
This should be a pretty evenly contested game, and I’m not sure there will be a winner. Ruh Brest will surely want to build on their terrific start, and the home advantage will help them see more of the ball, but Energetyk is way more experienced in this league.
After getting a vital win against BATE, they will probably take a cautious approach in their matchup against the confident newcomers. They wouldn’t want to be caught off guard, and I think a draw will be viewed as a positive result in the Energetyk-BDU camp.
It’s still early days in the season, and I believe the visitors will be more interested in avoiding a defeat than pushing for the win here. Given these circumstances and the great prize that the draw offers, I’m going with a stalemate here.
