Predicting Where Jadeveon Clowney Will Sign for 2020
If you’re like me, you’re constantly searching for the latest information on how to bet on the 2020 NFL Draft, which players are heating up in free agency, and anything else surrounding the NFL.
That includes Jadeveon Clowney news, as one of the best NFL free agents available is still waiting for the right team to show him the money.
The former #1 overall pick hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations, but he’s also far from a bust. He won’t fit for everyone, but he still projects as a big get on the open market for teams in need of pass rushing help.
It just may have to come at the right price. Clowney is still waiting for the perfect deal, but if he’s willing to bend a little, one of the following teams may be a good fit.
Russell Wilson is openly begging Clowney to come back to Seattle, where he registered three sacks in 13 games. Clowney still had a positive impact, though, and he’s very much needed in Seattle.
The Seahawks need pass rushing help to navigate the brutal NFC West, while they collectively posted just 29th in sacks in 2019.
The need and connection are both there. Clowney’s asking price just needs to drop.
New York Giants
The G-Men are another logical fit for Clowney, seeing as they ranked just 22nd in sacks and lost some pass rushers this offseason.
The big one is Markus Golden, who had a career year with 10 sacks but isn’t expected to be back. They’ve been reluctant to splurge on a pass rusher, of course.
It’s also worth wondering if Clowney perfectly fits New York’s defensive scheme, but there’s no denying Big Blue could use his talent at getting after the quarterback.
There’s also the Lions, who were inept (tied for 29th) at successfully getting to the quarterback in 2019. You’d think a Matt Patricia-led defense would be better, but the team doesn’t have much beyond Trey Flowers up front.
With Patricia coaching for his job in 2020, it’s arguable he swings for the fences and fixes his pass rush by paying for some help.
Insert Clowney, and the Lions could suddenly have a very scary pass rush on their hands. That’s pretty key in a tough division where they’ll be facing Aaron Rodgers twice a year.
What Team Will Sign Jadeveon Clowney?
If you’re looking for a Jadeveon Clowney prediction, start with the Seattle Seahawks. It’s always nice when a star player backs you in public, while Seattle flat-out needs pass rushing help.
Price is currently an issue, but the lack of interest from other teams will naturally see Clowney’s contract demands drop.
If the price range Seattle is comfortable with ends up being remotely close to the ceiling other teams will offer, there’s a really good chance Clowney comes back to the Seahawks.
Some NFL betting sites are going to offer free agency props, and a big name like Clowney could end up being someone you can bet on. If so, I think the best bet should be a return to Seattle.
