Is Patrick Mahomes a Good Bet for the 2020 NFL MVP?

Betting on Patrick Mahomes to Win the 2020 NFL MVP

When it comes to ranking the NFL quarterbacks, it’s pretty simple.

It’s Patrick Mahomes, and then it’s everybody else.

The 24-year-old signal-caller in Kansas City is still getting his feet wet in this league, having only started 31 games, but how’s this for an early list of accomplishments?

  • Super Bowl Champion
  • Super Bowl MVP
  • First-Team All-Pro
  • NFL Offensive Player of the Year

Making the Pro-Bowl in back-to-back years or leading the NFL in passing touchdowns doesn’t even make the cut — that’s how decorated this kid is. Here’s what I’m getting at.

Those of you contemplating betting on Patrick Mahomes winning the 2020 NFL MVP, allow me to give you a little push.

Video-Game-Like Numbers

When you break into the league throwing for more than 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns, it’s no surprise you get to be on the cover of Madden. After all, those numbers are about as video-game-like as you’re ever going to see in real life.

Fast-forward to the end of Patrick’s second season, and he’s averaging 303.6 passing yards/game and has compiled 76 TDs compared to just 18 interceptions. Mahomes has also rushed for 500 yards and has accounted for four more scores on the ground, and we’re just talking about the regular season.

Whether it’s the four second-quarter touchdown passes he threw against the Raiders or the four second-quarter touchdown passes he tossed versus the Texans, Mahomes does stuff that doesn’t seem real.

Unless you’re just playing Madden against the computer on rookie mode.

Uncanny Arm Talent

I could try and explain how special Patrick Mahomes’ arm talent is, but it’s hard to find the right adjectives to give it proper justice.

“Exceptional” or “extraordinary” are still understatements, so let’s try “superhuman.”

Frankly, the best way to illustrate his unprecedented arm is to show you a few stunning Patrick Mahomes highlight throws. The laser he chucks across his body to Tyreek Hill at the 1:59 mark — I mean, nobody else can make that throw.

He’s got good size at 6’3” and 230 pounds, but it’s not like he’s built like Zeus. So how is he throwing the football as if he’s an ancient Greek god?

The point is that Patrick Mahomes has an arm like we’ve never seen before.

Weapons for Days

Is there a more sincere downfield threat than Tyreek Hill? Is there a more reliable tight end than Travis Kelce? Mecole Hardman and Sammy Watkins are burners on the outside, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire was one of the best picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

I guess the best question is if it’s really even fair.

A seriously potent supporting cast is guided by Andy Reid — one of the best offensive minds in football. Throw Mahomes in at the helm, and we could be talking about the Chiefs’ 2020 offense for the next 20 years.

Patrick would be a legitimate threat in the NFL 2020 MVP race no matter what team he was on. The fact that he’s on Kansas City makes him the undeniable favorite.

The Chiefs Are the Super Bowl 55 Favorites

Regardless of which of the leading NFL betting sites you approach, one thing will be constant.

They’re all going to have the Kansas City Chiefs installed at the top of the Super Bowl 55 odds sheet. The list of past NFL MVP Award winners reminds us that quarterbacks on the best teams are the most likely recipients, so keep that in mind when you’re betting.

Mahomes is a sporty 24-7 as a starter and has reached the AFC Championship game in each of the last two years. Very few scenarios involve KC not progressing to at least that point again in the upcoming campaign.

Add that all up.

If Mahomes doesn’t win the 2020 NFL MVP, he’ll most certainly at least be at the heart of the discussion.

Will Patrick Mahomes Win the NFL MVP in 2020?

I’m going to say yes.

I’m also going to alert you that you may want to head to one of the best NFL sportsbooks now before you miss out on more equity. Patrick Mahomes was hanging out at +600 to win the 2020 NFL MVP just last week, yet he’s already down to +500.
