paiN vs. Imperial Odds, Prediction, and Pick for April 17th – ESL One Road to Rio, SA Tiebreaker

The ESL One Road to Rio, South America final stage starts next week and three of the finalists are now clear. This leaves one spot that will be decided today between paiN and Imperial e-Sports. Both teams will be eager to progress to the next stage.

My paiN and Imperial betting preview features a prediction based on my analysis of both sides. I’ve also added the odds and my recommended betting pick for those of you who plan to place a real money wager on the match.

paiN Gaming announced it was going to move to North America in April, but the current crisis changed the plans of the squad. The team is still part of the South American CS:GO scene and managed to perform well in the Open Qualifier for ESL One Road to Rio.

Next in line was the Closed Qualifier and paiN hoped to secure a place in the next stage there, but defeats against Isurus and Team One ended the team’s run.

On the bright side, paiN looked close to the best sides and did enough for a place in the Tiebreaker. The opponent there was already soundly beaten earlier and I believe that the team should have plenty of confidence going into this match.

There were a lot of changes in the Imperial e-Sports roster at the beginning of 2020 and the team has been shaky since. It did enough to reach this stage, though, and it all depends on a best-of-three match against paiN.

To be honest, I think that the mechanics of Imperial are worse than the opposition and we saw that clearly during the Open Qualifiers. The team will struggle to edge paiN and another defeat might be on the cards here.

My prediction is that paiN should comfortably win today and reach the next stage. The team is simply better and the stakes are too high for any complacency. The odds for a straight victory for the favorite are too low for my taste, but I do like the -1.5 map advantage.
