The BetOnline sportsbook gives Paderborn no chance of rounding off its second-ever Bundesliga season with some consolatory victories. Borussia Monchengladbach is the club under pressure to perform here, and a crucial away win should be achievable, but the odds don’t look too appealing.

It was inevitable from fairly early on in the season, but the defeat to Union Berlin on Tuesday confirmed Paderborn’s relegation. The club has spent the majority of the season bottom of the table, but there have been a few high points for the players, including the incredible draw with Dortmund earlier in the campaign.

Now Paderborn faces Borussia Monchengladbach at home and Eintracht Frankfurt away to round off the season, and it could play a very important role in both teams’ chances of European soccer next season. Saturday’s opponents need a win to keep in touch with Leverkusen and the top four, while Frankfurt might have an outside shot of the Europa League.

Borussia Monchengladbach probably should have already secured a top-four finish after the way it was playing earlier in the season. But now Die Fohlen must win its games and rely on others dropping points to qualify for the Champions League. The bad news is that manager Marco Rose must do without two of his best players for this one.

Marcus Thuram’s ankle injury sees the Frenchman out for the rest of the season, and Alasanne Plea may also miss both games with a groin complaint. Those two will be greatly missed against Paderborn and then Hertha on the last day of the campaign.

The odds are not the greatest, but even with all the injuries, Borussia Monchengladbach should still not have too much trouble coming away from Paderborn with all three points. Whether it can catch Leverkusen and snatch a top-four finish is another question entirely, though.
