NiP vs. Complexity Betting Preview, May 2, 2020

The European division of the ESL One: Road to Rio tournament continues this Saturday with a Group A matchup between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Complexity Gaming.

It will be the teams’ first meeting in a very long time but NiP will surely be coming into this as a firm favorite. The Swedish outfit has been flying since the start of the qualifiers, while their opponents find themselves on the brink of elimination.

My NiP vs. Complexity betting preview for May 2nd looks at the betting prices and I then share my prediction based on recent form and some key stats.

Don’t go away as I also offer a free betting pick for you in the end.

NiP vs. Complexity Odds

First, let’s look at the odds. I have chosen BetOnline for this matchup as it regularly provides the best prices and markets for CS:GO events.

Here is how things stand at the moment.

Match Winner

NiP -192
Complexity +156

Map Advantage

NiP  (-1.5) +184
Complexity (+1.5) -244

Total Maps Played

Over 2.5 -119
Under 2.5 -108

As expected, the high-flying Ninjas are given the advantage by the bookmakers but something tells me that they are in for a rough ride.

Time to move on to my team analysis and figure out where the betting value lies here.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

NiP is creating a lot of buzz in the CG:GO community right now as Plopski and company enter this matchday as one of the two top seeds in Group A.

Not only that but they boast the best round win ratio even though they lost against Astralis.

And even if the defeat can be considered a low point, the team did put up a fight against the Danes. They won the first round on Vertigo and went into double digits on both Nuke and Inferno but ultimately fell short of clinching a huge win.

Despite that, they have been relentless against Vitality, ENCE, and Dignitas.

There seems to be great camaraderie among the players right now and it’s no surprise that a lot of people expect they will make quick work of bottom-dwellers Complexity.

Complexity Gaming

On paper, it looks like the team is down and out after losing three of their opening four ESL One: Road to Rio fixtures.

However, a more detailed look at their performances reveals why Complexity is still regularly playing at the top level.

They have won at least one map in every tie so far and were close to upsetting Astralis on Train after a superb display on Nuke pushed the game into a decisive round.

The organization did have to endure some heavy beatings along the way but that is to be expected when you’re playing the elite. More importantly, blameF and his teammates seem to be able to dust themselves down and continue to plug away despite the disappointments.

The win against ENCE confirmed this and with a match against Dignitas still to come, an upset today may open the door for this team to make a late playoff push.

NiP vs. Complexity Prediction and Pick

Some say that the NiP magic is back and it’s hard to blame them. The Swedes have been in incredible form and their tactics allow them to navigate most maps with ease.

However, the match against Astralis will ground them a bit and it’s uncertain how they will react against a team that they haven’t met in a while.

Complexity’s roster has held its own against some of the top organizations and the win against ENCE means they still have everything to fight for.

The underdog label will suit them in this tie and they can be deadly on maps like Nuke, Mirage, and Dust II. Coincidentally, these are all options that NiP has had problems with.

A big performance will definitely be needed here if Complexity is to defy the odds but the price of +156 suggests that they are not a complete outsider.

With the way the ESL One qualifiers have gone so far, there is always a chance for an underdog to snatch an unlikely win. And Complexity’s experience at the top level means they shouldn’t be easily dismissed.

I believe we have an opportunity to profit big here so I’m going with blameF and his teammates to gun down their opponents today.
